DREAM JOBS: LIVING WHAT YOU LOVE
JOHN MITCHELL
JGR RETAIL MANAGER/R&D
STARTING POINT: “I went to school with Nathan Ramsey’s older brother, so we always hung out together. I started working on Nathan’s bikes, and in 1996 Roger DeCoster signed Nathan to factory Suzuki. I was brought on board as his mechanic. In 1999 we won the 125 West Supercross title. After 15 years traveling the circuit I was looking for a change in my life. I worked for Fox Racing as an outside sales rep, then for Tokyo Mods as an engine tuner. Then Joe Gibbs Racing came calling.”
THE JOB: “My job responsibilities have changed as JGR continues to grow. Originally I was responsible for building the engines on the retail side, but over the past three years I’ve become the retail manager. I help develop parts, and have brought the JGR retail website to life. Basically I’m in charge of all the customer specs that go out the door. It’s a rewarding job, and there’s never a dull moment.”
