WATCH THE DETROIT 250/450 SUPERCROSS IN UNDER 20 MINUTES

The Detroit Supercross saw the 450 points tighten up with Chase Sexton getting the Red Plate back, Jett Lawrence getting the holeshot and runaway win and Ken Roczen finally back on the podium. By night’s end, which was actually still in the daytime, Sexton, Lawrence and Plessinger were at the top of the 450 leaderboard separated by only 3 points, while several riders had bad nights; (1) Eli Tomac ended the night in tenth place (16 points behind Sexton); (2) Malcolm Stewart got 11th and had time to throw  in a quick crash (and is not in the top ten in 450 points); (3) Justin Barcia was 12th in Detroit, a far cry from the 3rd he got in San Diego four weeks ago. BamBam is now 39 points out of first place. (4) Christian Craig has had a terrible start to the 2024 season. He is 17th in 450 points and finished 13th in Detroit—his best finish so far in the first five events. (5) Hunter Lawrence has been slowly recovering from the disaster at Anaheim 1, where he failed to qualify out of the 450 Last Chance. Since then he has finished 10th, 7th, 11th and 8th. He has finally made it into the top ten in points (7 points behind Justin Barcia in 9th).

As for the opening round of the 250 East, it’s hard to say what the results mean in the long run. It was obvious that Austin Forker and Max Anstie were on their A-Games, but a massive first turn pile-up left most of their highly touted East Coast competition on the ground, back in the Mechanic’s Area getting their mangled bikes straighten out or out of the race. For example,  Cameron McAdoo, who was the fastest qualifier was 15th, Haiden Deegan was 16th, Tom Vialle was 18th, Seth Hammaker was 21st and Evan Ferry brought his Triumph home 22nd. However, bad luck for some means good luck for others. Daxton Bennick was 3rd, Coty Schok was 4th, Pierce Brown was 5th and Jalek Swoll put his Triumph across the finish line in 6th.
