The 250SE and 300 SE are virtually identical with the exception of the bore-and-stroke. The 249.3cc Sherco 250SE has a 66.40 mm bore and 72mm stroke. The 300SA actually displaces 293.1cc with the same stroke, but a 72mm bore.

2021 SHERCO 250/300SEF “FACTORY” FOUR-STROKE

Sherco’s 300SEF “Factory” four-stroke is one of only a few 300cc  four-stroke off-road bikes made. Although the engine shares its basic components with the 250SEF, the bore and stroke are changed on the 300. The bore is upped from 78mm (on the 250) to 84mm, (on the 300), while the crank is stroked 2.6mm. The 300SEF actually displaces 303.68cc.
The fuel injection system comes from Synerjet and the exhaust is a complete Akrapovic system. The tires are from Michelin, which you would expect from a French-built motorcycle.

Sherco racers can choose between a 448.40cc version or a 478.22cc big-bore engine. The displacement upgrade is achieved with a 3mm larger piston.

Sherco does not make a motocross version, only off-road models—even though platform sharing would make in very easy to do. All it would take convert one to motocross is a 19-inch rear wheel, small ergas tank, revalved suspension, new mapping and a close-ratio gearbox. Oh yeah, the kickstand would have to go.
