FOX RACEWAY RD.1 PRO MOTOCROSS // From the Starting Gate to the Finish Line

From the Starting Gate to the Finish Line will bring you all the info from the day of racing from the first round of the AMA Pro Championship series from Fox Raceway. There was only a few-week hiatus after the conclusion of the 2023 Supercross series. For 2023 there’s a notable change. The SX and MX series have been combined into a single extensive championship called the Supermotocross World Championship. The merged series consists of 31 rounds, with the final three taking place in North Carolina, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Completing this challenging series will undoubtedly test the endurance of the riders.

JO SHIMODA GOING DOWN IN THE FIRST 250 MOTO

TIRE OF CHOICE FOR FOR ROUND 1 // DUNLOP GEOMAX MX14

It can be surprising when you see National riders run a sand tire. However, the Dunlop MX14 is a very versatile tire that works great in deep loam like the Fox Raceway track in the morning. As some riders will switch to the mid-soft tire for the motos some riders will stick to the sand tire. Check out the full test we did on the Dunlop MX14.

FIRST TIME FOR METAL GRATES IN AMA PRO MOTOCROSS

The days of the dirt starts are over at the Pro-level of our sport. Pro Motocross is changing to metal grates which takes out some of the skill of packing your gate but also adds consistency for the riders and teams who’ve been using these in Supercross for over six years now.

250 MOTO 1 RACE RESULTS

RJ Hampshire dominated the field in the first moto.

Off the start, it was Jalek Swoll with the holeshot, but Jo Shimoda made the pass in the second turn. RJ Hampshire made the pass on his teammate Swoll on the first lap. On the opening lap Cooper was in 9th and Lawrence behind him in 10th. It wasn’t long before Hampshire got passed Shimodo to take the lead. The two factory KTM riders were 3rd and 4th place making time on the leaders. Hampshire went down in a rut in a lead put got stuck behind him letting Vohland catch up to them.

Jo Shimoda went down with about 20 minutes to go putting Max in second and Vialle in third.

With 12 minutes on the clock, Hunter Lawrence and Justin Cooper made it up to the top five riders. Jo made the pass on Vialle into third with Lawrence doing the same moments later putting Vialle to fifth.

On the last lap, it was a three-rider dual for second between Max, Jo and Hunter.  Hunter passed Jo and started working on Max. At the finish, it was RJ, Max, Hunter, Jo, and Justin in the top 5.

CHASE SEXTON GOES DOWN DURING 450 QUALIFYING

450 OVERALL QUALIFYING RESULTS

This time around Jett Lawrence started out with more speed and was on top of the pole right away with Adam Cianciarulo in tow. Chase Sexton started to put in a fight and got into second behind Jett but couldn’t seem to run his pace. Jett was more than 2.5 seconds faster than Chase Sexton. This kid is business.

250 OVERALL QUALIFYING RACE RESULTS

Hunter was the fastest in the second qualifying session but it was not enough to overtake Justin Cooper’s hot lap in the first session.

Hunter Lawrence was the first to lay down a hot lap to get on the pole. After a lap, Justin Cooper came back swinging to overtake Hunter for the top spot. Hunter retaliated and bumped Justin from the top spot with a 2:22.225. Max Volhand also passed up Justin for second in qualifying. However, Hunter and Max’s time wasn’t fast enough to beat out Cooper’s first qualifying session time of 2:21 making Justin Cooper the fastest 250 rider in overall qualifying.

2023 FOX RACEWAY NATIONAL // 450 QUALIFYING RESULTS

Many of the 450 class riders fell like flies during the season with only four riders scoring points every round. The riders injured and others skipping the Nationsl to race the WSX series the 450 class is a lot lighter than it has been in the past. All eyes will be on the two Factory Honda riders, Jett Lawrence and Chase Sexton. Let’s see how 450 qualifying panned out at the first AMA Pro Motocross round at Fox Raceway.

To be involved in the action be sure to create a team with our MX Fantasy team to win big prizes like a 2024 Beta 300RX and a Boxo MotoBox full of tools.

Right now the consensus in the MXA Fantasy League is Chase Sexton is going to beat Jett Lawrence in the first round. According to the first qualifying session Jett has the upper hand thus far.  Remember you have till 12:30 pm to lock in your teams before it is locked.

450 QUALIFYING RESULTS // SESSION 1

Jett Lawrence just proved he is here to win.

Cooper Webb was on top of the pole in the opening laps with privateer riders, Marshal Weltin, Jerry Robin and Ryan Surratt in tow for the first few laps. On the third lap Adam Cainciarulo took the pole with Chase Sexton in tow. Jett Lawrence and Dylan Ferrandis were off to a slow start as they were both outside the top 10 in the opening laps our very own Josh Mosiman ran 12th in timing until Jett Lawrence put in a heater and put in the fastest lap of the day with a 2:22.709.
