HAVE YOU SEE THE NEW MXA? THE FEBRUARY 2022 ISSUE IS OUT NOW!

HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW MXA? A MOTOCROSS MAGAZINE FOR GUYS WHO LOVE BIKES

The January 2022 issue of MXA is jam-packed full of stuff you need to know—especially if you’re sitting at home looking out at the frozen tundra and wishing you could get a taste of motocross to warm you up. MXA is all about motocross, and pretty soon Supercross. Below is a sampling of what’s inside the new issue of Motocross Action.

You may not like the results of the 2022 MXA 450 Shootout, but we never expected a consensus. Shootouts are not acdemocracy, where people vote, instead it is an MXA science project where all the MXA test riders offer feedback after racing the bikes for months—and poof —there’s your winner.

What do you want to know about what goes on behind the scenes in the AMA Supercross series. Supercross Director Operations Dave Prater took the time to answer MXA’s questions about the TV package, the breakup with the FIM, if they are for sale, the electric future, paying the privateers more and why teams can’t sell their merchandise in the pits.

Originally called a Sachs 125, it changed its name to DKW 125 in the early 1970s. Anyone remember its final name change? DKW became the Hercules 125 in 1980.

If there is one race that needs to be on your bucket list, it is the Dubya World Veteran Motocross Championship. Yes, there are a lot of Vet races now, but how many were there back in 1986? How many can claim winners named Kent Howerton, Gary Jones, Rex Staten, Erik Kehoe, Jeff Ward, Andy Jefferson, Kyle Lewis, Warren Reid, Ryan Hughes, Kurt Nicoll, Lars Larssson, Thorlief Hanssen, Josh Grant or Doug Dubach?

The MXA wrecking crew loved how the 2022 Kawasaki KX250 ran from 10,000 rpm to it’s sign-off at 14,500 rpm. It was fast-as-fast can be on top, but it had issues that erased that giddy feel.

We thought that the day would never come when the powers-that-be in Austria would allow their Husqvarna brand to be better than the “Race Ready” KTM. It has happened—largely because Husky’s engineers took a big gamble on the suspension set-up.

Many people blame MXA for causing the demise of the Cannondale MX400 with this 2001 bike test, but we like to think that MXA saved a lot of riders from buying a bike that would have been a money pit.

MXA tracked down a bundle of backwards engines (with the exhaust pipe coming out the back of the cylinder). Surprisingly, that is the only thing they have in common.

“Dream Jobs” chronicles how three industry insiders got their jobs in the motorcycle business. We offer it as a guide to how you might follow in their footsteps. “MXA Team Tested” is a product test of something you might want or just want to know about.

And, we think you might want to know about O’Neals all-new Hardwaear gear and Tear-off Gaskets that keep dust and water from getting behind your laminated tear-offs.

“Hit Parade” highlights the latest products on the horizon, be it Blendzall Synzall 4T-R engine oil, Moose’s 2022 M1 gear, FMF’s Zach Osborne signature goggles or Pro Circuit’s latest hat. “Forgotten Tech” is all about the weird and wild world of inventions, concepts and ideas, some great, some amusing and some down-right strange. We find KTM’s toaster, which burns the KTM logo into your bread, to be quite unique.

“Big Movers” lets a company insider, like Scott Goggle’s John Knowles, tell you about Scotts’ Best Selling, Best Value and Most Unique products. “Ten Things” breaks down the inner workings on of what makes a motocross bike go—it’s tech in an easy to understand form.
