The September 2015 issue of MXA is on the new stands now. It contains everything you need to know about motocross past, present and future. Plus, some stuff you never dreamed you’d need to know.
The early release KTM 450SXF Factory Edition should have been called the “Factory Audition,” because KTM made lots of changes to the 2016 production bike. It is the lightest 450 on the showroom floors (and that’s with an electric starter).
Factory stars who dress like Ronald McDonald when they race can be forgiven for not knowing what to do with their ears when they don’t have a helmet on. Find out who is “ears-in” and who is “ears-out”
We jumped at the opportunity to ride Cooper Webb’s Star Yamaha YZ250F. Find out what goes into the Yamalube-sponsored machine.
The AJS 250 Stormer used a Villiers Starmaker engine (it was a boat anchor back in 1971), but note that it had leading axle front forks and moved up shocks way before they were in vogue.
Zach Osborne and the Rockstar Husqvarna team were nice enough to part with Zach’s FC250 so the MXA wrecking crew could give it a whirlygig.
The 2016 Suzuki RM-Z250 hasn’t arrived in the USA yet, but the MXA didn’t want to wait, so we went to Japan to race the works version that was being used as a test mule for the 2016 updates.
You might be surprised to learn that the homologation rule that KTM uses to race the Factory Editions every Supercross season wasn’t their idea. The rule was already on the AMA books and it had been put there by the Yamaha road race team a decade earlier.
The AMA National will be over in two weeks, but the Grand Prix series doesn’t end until September 20th at Glen Helen. We take you on a photo journey to some of the GP’s most famous venues.
Bones Bacon has tuned the suspension of the most famous racers in America, including Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael, Ryan Villopoto and Adam Cianciarulo. His advice should be on the top of your list to things to learn.
Is it good? Is it bad? is it worth the money? The best place to find out is MXA.
The September 2005 cover looks a lot like the September 2015 cover. Why? Ten years ago Yamaha released a special run of 50th Anniversary YZ-Fs. Guess what? 2015 is the 60th Anniversary and they have done it again.
