JEREMY MARTIN INJURED: OUT FOR 2022 DAYTONA SUPERCROSS

Unfortunately, both of Star Racing Yamaha’s 250 riders will miss the 2022 Daytona Supercross with injuries. The rookie, Levi Kitchen, was injured at Round 2 in Texas and he is healing from a fracture in his tibia and a broken knee cap. Jeremy Martin was healthy when he left Arlington, but a practice crash on Wednesday before Daytona injured his shoulder and will keep him away from his favorite Supercross event of the season (as he stated here in our latest interview with him).

With both Yamaha riders injured, this will be the first time in recent memory that Star Racing Yamaha will not field a 250 team at a Supercross race. The team also has Colt Nichols (250 West division) recovering from injury, as well as Christian Craig and Nate Thrasher who are both healthy, but who have both raced in the 250 West division. If Star Racing wants to field a rider, they’ll need to find a fill-in because the AMA rules do not allow for a 250 rider (like Craig or Thrasher) to compete in both the West and East coast divisions in the same season.

Yamaha Racing stated: “The Monster Yamaha Star Racing 250 East riders will be sitting out of this weekend’s Daytona Supercross. Unfortunately, Jeremy Martin was injured yesterday in a practice crash, and Levi Kitchen continues to work on returning to full fitness from his big get-off in Arlington. An update will follow at a later time.”

Levi Kitchen posted: “Just want to give y’all an update. I’m not going to make the races this weekend. Small fracture on the top of my tibia and a broken knee cap. Not sure when I’ll be back but I’m going to do everything I can to be racing again soon. Pretty bummed considering I feel I didn’t get to show what I was truly capable of but there’s always more racing to look forward to. Thanks everyone for the support.”
