KEN ROCZEN’S SALT LAKE CITY SUPERCROSS HEALTH ISSUE UPDATE
KEN ROCZEN SPEAKS AFTER SALT LAKE CITY SUPERCROSS ROUND 14: HEALTH ISSUE UPDATE
At Round 14 of the 2020 Supercross season, Ken Roczen was able to make big improvements from the previous Salt Lake City Supercross. He pressured Cooper Webb for the lead through their entire Heat race and looked good going into the Main Event. Although his Heat race was exceptional, Supercross fans still wondered if he would be able to hold on for the entire 20-minute plus 1-lap race. The gate dropped for the 450 Main Event and it looked like a carbon copy of the Heat. With Eli Tomac buried in the pack, he was out of the picture for the first half while Cooper Webb was leading and Ken Roczen was all over him in second. It looked like Ken was going to pass the former Champion through the whoops multiple times, but somehow Webb managed to hold him back. Sadly, around the halfway mark Ken started to lose steam and he started to slip backwards. Luckily, Ken was able to hold on for a fifth place finish, but it was still a bummer to watch the fan favorite continue to suffer from health issues. One week ago, Ken posted this post race statement where he talked about the breathing issues he’s been experiencing lately. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Supercross needs Ken Roczen. He brings personality to our sport that fans desperately want to see.
One week after his first statement about breathing issues, Ken posted again via instagram on Friday afternoon just two days before Round 15 of Supercross in Salt Lake City. This time he shared some more answers as to why he’s been struggling with breathing and fatigue. Ken mentioned again that he’s been dealing with a virus for a while now, but he also said that he tested positive for shingles on Sunday. Still, Ken said that he will press forward. On his instagram story, Ken posted a photo of him at the track again, getting some more training in to prepare for Sundays race and the final three rounds of the 2020 Supercross season.
KEN ROCZEN’S STATEMENT:
Ken Roczen posted via instagram: “SLC 4 was a bit better. Speed is great and i feel pretty good on the bike. 2 days is not enough time to get everything lined up again after a disaster race. As everyone knows i have been dealing with the virus for a while now and it also turned out i tested positive for shingles last Sunday. I know everyone is sick of hearing it and so am i. Unfortunately those are things i can’t control. I can assure you i am doing my part to be ready and live healthy and doing all the things i can control. Huge thank you to all my partners that have always supported me in these last few years and continue to do so 🤙🏽”
