LIVIA LANCELOT WILL TRY TO QUALIFY FOR THE QATAR AND THAI GRANDS PRIX

Livia Lancelot, 2008 Women’s Motocross Champion, will take part in both the Qatar and Thailand Grands Prix. This won’t be the first time a women has tried to race a GP, Stefy Bau tried in 2005, but did not qualify. Mariana Balbi took advantage of the fact that there were very few entries at the 2009 Brazilian Grand Prix to get into the field and finish 24th overall.

Lancelot might have the same advantage as Balbi in that no one knows how many GP regulars will make the trips to Qatar or Thailand. No matter how big the field, she would still have to make the top 20 in the 250 first moto to transfer to the newly conceived 250/450 Super Final.

What does she think her chances are? “I don’t think that I will be in the main event. I’ll give my best as always, and I will see where I can finish, but I know that the MX2 riders are really fast, so I can’t expect so much.”

We wish her luck and given the down playing of women’s motocross across the globe, this is the kind of attempt that attracts attention.
