ADAM CIANCIARULO IS THE REAL DEAL

Adam Cianciarulo?brain surgeon.

If you want to become a doctor there is a solid path to get you there. Yes, it might take you a decade to get through all the classes, sleepless nights, medical school lectures, hospital residency years and, of course, running up an average of $157,000 in school loans. But looking ahead you can see the finish line at any part of the process.

Being a professional motocross racer requires the same commitment as becoming a doctor. It takes years of hard work and determination. There is no easy path. There are no counselors to get you there. You spend the same money to become a motocross star as you would to be a brain surgeon, but you have less than a 1% chance of making it. If you have the dream, you have to spend the time and the money. Thousands of kids want this dream to come true and their families make the sacrifice. It goes without saying that it is easier to become a doctor than to become Ryan Villopoto. Most families of hopeful motocross stars never see the finish line. They end up in debt with a home schooled 22-year-old who isn’t prepared for another career.

Looking at the life of Adam Cianciarulo, with the paths and decisions that his parents made throughout his career, you couldn’t get a straighter road to the top. They made all the right moves. Adam’s parents made it a point to instill a great work ethic in him at a very young age. They went to all the right tracks. They got him the experience he needed. He got on the winningest team in the sport. He signed on with a great trainer. He was respectful, nice and polite. And, he did it all while he was still five years away from the Pro ranks. To top it off, he got help learning the ropes from Ryan Villopoto.
And, it goes without saying that Adam had some luck to go along with his skill. He didn’t suffer a major injury that would have ended his career path?something that most aspiring doctors don’t have to worry about. Thus, Adam invested the same time and money in motocross that he would have in college and medical school and he came out ready to race at the highest level.
All this planning and experience allowed Adam to win his first-ever Supercross at 17 years old ? which he did like a veteran. In all his interviews after the race Adam stated over and over again, “I just rode my laps and focused on myself.” This humble nature is something that you don’t always see from veteran Pros. The people that Adam surrounded himself with molded him into the person he needed to be to make his dream to come true. All of us at the MXA wrecking crew would not only like to say congratulations to Adam, but also to his parents for becoming a part of the rare 1%. Adam has a big future ahead of him.

MXA FITNESS TIP OF THE WEEK

People who are highly motivated to accomplish their goals have a tendency to over work their body. For these individuals?more is less. The human body if overtrained will just keep on breaking down. This makes the body’s immune system weak and susceptible to disease. The human body needs adequate rest to rebuild and replenish everything that it has lost. By monitoring your Morning Heart Rate (MHR) each day you will be able to decipher the level of each day’s intensity. If your MHR is lower than normal go ahead and train on. If it is higher than normal it is time to take an easy day or possibly an easy week.

Just recently I started training harder than normal to get ready for the Glen Helen National on May 24. I have overtrained for the last few months trying to force myself back into the shape I was the last time I raced the Nationals, but my body has done nothing but push back. I did not feel as if I lacked energy or motivation, so I just kept the throttle wide open. Just within a few weeks I became sick. I was out of commission for a week, then got sick again because I did not ease myself back into training. My body was full of lactic acid and arm pump became the new normal (and my body was always sore).

I am finally taking my own advice and listening to my heart. There has been many times when I wanted to train, but my MHR was telling me to rest. Now that I pay attention to my MHR my body is running at the optimum level to allow me to make some great progress?all from just taking more time off.

You will find the longer you track your MHR the more you will learn about yourself?such as why you are always getting sick. The easiest way to track your MRH is with with a smart phone. There are many heart rate apps you can download. My favorite is “Instant Heart Rate.” It is easy to use once you get the hang of it.

NIHILO CONCEPTS KTM 65 BILLET CLUTCH COVER NOW AVAILABLE!

Nihilo Concepts has developed a new KTM 65SX clutch cover that improves performance and clutch feel. KTM’s are designed with a hydraulic system to activate the clutch. While it is the best in the industry it does develop extreme pressure that can flex the stock cover and take some of the feel out of the clutch. Nihilo designed a cover that was light and strong, while stiff enough to eliminate flex ? making clutch activation and feel more consistent. By incorporating a trussed bracing system inside the cover Nihilo was able to improve strength while  increasing oil capacity and lowering oil temps. Nihilo also twisted the slave cylinder a little bit in order to redirect the hydraulic line so it passes by the water pump in a more direct fashion. A special weight saving durable plastic compound was used for the slave cylinder protector which bolts on making replacement of a damaged or scratched protector easy. The orange anodized finish combined with the black slave cylinder protector will give your KTM 65 the full factory look and function. www.nihiloconcepts.com
