(Brazilian news: On news that won’t make the cash-strapped GP teams too happy, Youthstream has begun hinting that it has extended the GP of Brazil’s contract for four more years, signed a deal to bring the poorly financed MX3 series to Brazil in 2013, want to make the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship come to Brazil also and are adding a second MX1/MX2 GP round to make two Brazilian GPs in the same year. Plus, Luongo has promised Brazil the Motocross des Nations in 2015. Good for Brazil, we doubt that the GP teams, Women or MX3 riders think so. Luongo is dancing fast to try to erase the memory of Mexico from the riders and teams minds. This foreign adventure of Luongo’s, in search of sanction fees, is going to cost the riders a lot… especially since Luongo doesn’t pay purse money, travel money or start money.

TROY LEE DESIGNS CALLS UP JESSY NELSON

Jessy Nelson becomes one of a horde of fill-in riders this season. The Troy Lee team already added Billy Laninovich last week to help cover the injured Christian Craig and Cole Seely.

Originally Jessy Nelson was supposed to join the Troy Lee Design AMA National team after Loretta Lynn’s, but TLD andJessy feel that he is ready now…and he will race the 2012 outdoor season. Plus Nelson is signed for the 2013 season and has an option for 2014.

“We’ve had him out doing some motos and riding with the other guys,” said teams manager Tyler Keefe. “We started thinking about him doing the Nationals with us back then. We talked with Jessy about it and at first he wanted to think about it a little. After weighing his options he made the call to start his pro career this weekend at Hangtown.” Nelson will be running the #136 bike this weekend in Sacramento at what is technically his home track.

JEFF EMIG’S HANGTOWN WARM-UP VIDEO: WHO’S WHO? WHO’S HEALTHY? WHO’S MISSING?

IT WASN’T A SECRET, BUT NOW IT IS OFFICIAL: HOT SAUCE TO PRO CIRCUIT 250 TEAM

Ivan.

Press release: Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki is excited to welcome a familiar face back to the team. Ivan Tedesco, who earned an AMA 250 Pro Motocross Championship for Mitch Payton’s iconic team in 2005, will jump back on a KX250F this summer to battle a new breed of young guns. Tedesco brings with him the experience and credentials of back-to-back Supercross Lites West Championships in 2004 and 2005, a 2005 AMA 250 Pro Motocross Championship, and a 2005 Motocross des Nations victory with Team USA ? all aboard a Mitch Payton machine. He is excited about reuniting with the legendary organization, and is planning on making an impact upon his arrival.

“I’m really pumped to join the team again seven years later,” said Tedesco. “I’m hoping to have a lot of fun this summer and get some good results. Ultimately, the goal is to be a factor in the title hunt by the end of the series. Working with Mitch and Bones again on the 250 is going to be really cool. I feel right at home here.”

Tedesco joins new teammates Dean Wilson, Blake Baggett, and Broc Tickle as they embark on the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, which will host its opening round May 19 at the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento, Calif. Wilson will be defending his 2011 250 Championship Title, while Baggett and the rest of the class chomp at the bit for a chance to contest his campaign. After getting his feet wet on the big bike during the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross season, Tickle will represent the team in the 450 class. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team member Darryn Durham will soon undergo surgery due to a shoulder injury sustained while testing for the upcoming outdoor season. He will be recuperating for the next several weeks, at which time his injury will be re-evaluated. The team will make another announcement about his recovery at that time.

KYLE CHISHOLM: HOW TO TRANSITION FROM SUPERCROSS MODE TO OUTDOOR MODE

CASEY STONER TO CALL IT QUITS, EFFECTIVE AT THE END OF THE MOTOGP SEASON…SOMEHOW, WE DOUBT IT

Casey.

From MotoGP.com: Reigning MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner confirmed on Thursday that he would retire from the sport at the end of the 2012 season. The Repsol Honda rider addressed the media at the start of the official pre-event press conference for the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France, making a short statement in which he outlined the reasons behind his decision.

“After a long time thinking, a lot of time talking with my family and my wife, this has been coming for a couple of years now but at the end of this 2012 season I will be not racing in the 2013 Championship. I will be finishing my career at the end of this season in MotoGP, and go forward in different things in my life,” Stoner told the assembled press. “After so many years of doing this sport which I love, and which myself and my family made so many sacrifices for, after so many years of trying to get to where we have gotten to at this point, this sport has changed a lot and it has changed to the point where I am not enjoying it. I don’t have the passion for it and so at this time it’s better if I retire now. There are a lot of things that have disappointed me, and also a lot of things I have loved about this sport, but unfortunately the balance has gone in the wrong direction. And so, basically, we won’t be continuing any more. It would be nice if I could say I would stay one more year, but then where does it stop? So we decided to finish everything as we are now.”

Stoner, who won the 2007 MotoGP with Ducati and the 2011 crown with Honda, currently leads the 2012 standings by a single point ahead of Jorge Lorenzo heading into this weekend’s fourth round.
