TOMMY SEARLE UPDATE: OUT OF THE 450 GP’S FOR AT LEAST SIX WEEKS

CLS Kawasaki rider Tommy Searle is back in England after having his arm plated in a Thai hospital on Monday morning following his crash in Thailand. Dutch rider Herjan Brakke will replace Searle at the Brazil Grand Prix next week. Brakke had only planned to race the European-based GPs. Brakke, who rides for the HB Gebben Kawasaki team will reportedly. Tommy will be be out of action for six weeks. Searles described his crash this way, “The motor suddenly cut out when I was already committed to the triple jump. Many riders and teams had a problem with the fuel supplied in Thailand at the last minute by ETS after all fuel imports had been canceled by the Thailand authorities. My team need to check what happened.”

As for ETS, they sent out a press release saying that their fuel was approved for use and any engine problems, and there were many in Thailand, were related to bike setup—not the fuel.

IT’S IMPORTANT TO NOTE: KENNY ONLY GOES SOMEWHERE ELSE IF ROGER AGREES

KTM has the right to refuse to let Ken Roczen go. Will they?

Although the pits are abuzz with rumors about Ken Roczen going to RCH Suzuki in 2015 and Justin Barcia going to Joe Gibbs Yamaha—the truth about Kenny boils down to this one fact: When Ken signed his current KTM contract, he agreed to give KTM the “Right of First Refusal” for 2015. In simple terms that means that Ken and his agent are bound by Ken’s current contract to show KTM any offer he might receive from another team (all the details). If KTM matches that offer then Kenny has to stay in orange. So, no matter what Ken Roczen wants, he’s contractually linked to KTM unless Roger DeCoster lets him go.

PRO CIRCUIT’S ANCILLARY RACE TEAM COSTS

“Hey Mitch, make that Hawaiian with sausage.”

Running a professional race team is expensive, but there are always costs that never make the ledger books. Pro Circuit has a six-man team and with them comes the need for six mechanic and a bevy of practice, test bikes and race bikes to get them through the season. But, Pro Circuit has anexpense that any team would be happy to take over from them.

Every time that Pro Circuit team wins a Supercross or an AMA National, they host a pizza party at the Pro Circuit building for all the employees on Monday. It’s nice of them to let every employee feel like a part of the team. The bill? $450 a week. So far this year Pro Circuit has won seven 250 Supercross events and spent $3100 on pizza. Mitch said that when they had a long dry spell between wins the pizza parlor called to make sure that they were still in business. With 18 races yet to go in 2014 Mitch’s guys could net that pizza shop owner as much as $11,000 in business in 2014.

KTM EXTENDS TADDY’S CONTRACT THROUGH 2016

Extreme Enduro, SuperEnduro and Endurocross rider Taddy Blazusiak signed a new contract with the KTM 2015 and 2016 season. Taddy has won five consecutive SuperEnduro World Championships and another five AMA EnduroCross Championships. Taddy Blazusiak said, “I already had a contract with KTM through to the end of 2014, but I’m super pumped to extend it for another two years. I have a great bike and a great team and I am really looking forward to winning some more titles. We are about to start testing ahead of the EnduroCross season and I’m looking forward to another great year.”

THE KTM LOGO THROUGH THE YEARS

1953: KTM got punch – the first models of the KTM R100 were adorned with a tiger logo.

1954: The first official KTM logo was created when the future associate Ernst Kronreif joined the company in 1954. At this time, there was no consistent coloring: the oval was printed partly in orange and blue.

1958: No official logo, but another alternative that appeared as of 1958.

1962: Erich Trunkenpolz inherited the company after his father’s death and established the new logo with an “updated” lettering. After winning the first World Championship title in 1974, Erwin Lechner, former racer and at that time sales manager, decided to change the logo again: the oval was stretched, the blue color became more bold.

1978: In 1978 the logo was again slightly edited. The lettering “Austria” disappeared and the blue coloring became darker. There were two versions: the original with outline and another one without.

1989: After the acquisition by the Taus-Gruppe, the KTM logo experienced a bigger change. The oval disappeared and the slogan “Fun in Motion” was added. In 1992

1992: Three years later, Stefan Pierer took over the company and initiated the company´s re-launch. Pierer maintained the logo of 1989, but adapted it to the company´s core business “motorcycles.”

1996: Since 1996 KTM is orange. Kiska reduced the logo to the lettering.

1999: In 1999, the logo did not only change in terms of color, it also changed its shapes: the rear edge was adjusted and the T-line extended to line up precisely with K and M.

2003 on: Down to present day, the logo created in 2003 remains unchanged.
