WHAT STANDS OUT? Here’s a list of things that stand out with the EVS Sports UG06 riding shorts.

(1) Protection. The MXA test crew was skeptical of the EVS Sports UG06 riding shorts because the padding felt stiff. However, once we put them on, the pads in the tailbone, hips and thighs were barely noticeable. EVS uses an articulating “Ergo Flex” system that allows the padding to double back on itself in an accordion-style pattern. Additionally, the padding on the thigh and tailbone area is removable.

(2) Crotch. The UG06 riding shorts have a built-in bicycle-style chamois and crotch pad. This took the most time to get used to.

(3) Fit. The UG06 has a very snug fit. There are five sizes from small to extra-extra-large. A medium fits a 32-34 inch waist, while a large fits 34-36 inch waists. If you fall between sizes, always order the next size up.

(4) Ventilation.
While the EVS shorts were warmer than conventional underwear, the Lycra was porous enough to allow heat to pass through.

WHAT’S THE SQUAWK? Two quibbles: (1) For many MXA test riders, the built-in bicycle-style chamois was too irritating. (2) If your riding pants are already too tight, the UG06 makes them tighter.

If you’ve ever landed on your tailbone, you know how painful it can be. EVS Sports knows this; that is why they developed the UG06 riding short.
