• WHO’S WHO IN THE SUPERCROSS ZOO

Chase Sexton is cursed. He was on his way to what looked like and easy win in Seattle when he went over the bars when his front wheel hit a deep rut. He got up to finished 5th, but  Chase is now 22-points behind the tied-up pair of Tomac and Webb.

Cooper Webb’s finger gun has been holstered since KTM’s Roger DeCoster and Ian Harrison told him to stop it when he taunted Ken Roczen  at Anaheim in 2019. However, at Seattle Cooper pulled his gun out again, this time he aimed it at Chase Sexton after his heat race win. Taunting another rider can be an effective psychological game, but it can backfire later in the season.

Jett Lawrence can be beat in the 250 West, but it has only happened one time so far in the 2023 250 West when Levi Kitchen won Anaheim 2. After  Seattle Jett has a  23-point lead over R.J. Hampshire and 26 points on Cameron McAdoo.

 In his first season as an AMA Pro Haiden Deegan (238) has moved into third in the 250 East Supercross standings. Haiden is only 5 points behind second place Nate Thrasher. However, Hunter Lawence has a 40-point lead.

Dennis Stapleton is best known as a long-time MXA wrecking crew member. He is a polite, respectful, fun loving guy, who is just as much at home in Kuwait or the Phillipines as he is in SoCal. During his time at MXA he has taken breaks to be a Honda test rider and a KTM test rider. His dad, shown above with Little Dennis, was also a Pro racer in the 1970s and is also named Dennis Stapleton. Dennis Sr. put Dennis Jr. on two wheels at a young age.

Today, Dennis and his dad (above) are inseparable,  Dad owns the Knobby Shop South and specializes in Cobras, while Dennis Jr. works for MXA and runs a vacation motocross camp (mostly filled with riders that he has met during his international travels). Right now, Dennis is a Japan or maybe he’s moved on to Taiwan already, but he’ll be back in time to race the World Two-Stroke Championship at Glen Helen on April 8.

• MXA PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: FLEXPEGS SUSPENSION FOOTPEGS

FlexPegs has invented a clever way to reduce body fatigue while riding rough terrain. The Flex Pegs PS-Series product is a configurable motorcycle foot peg with an incorporated shock absorber mechanism which reduces muscle/joint fatigue by providing an additional layer of impact isolation between rider’s foot and the highest load bearing component, the foot placement platform.

Flex Pegs platform is designed to match OEM foot peg height and forward/aft position. It uses linkages in the mechanism to enable the platform to remain parallel through its full range of travel. Travel is 13mm to a hard stop. There are swappable compression springs and dampers that allow the rider to adjust the Flex Pegs to his specific weight or terrain. When set-up correctly the compression springs will remain rigid under the riders’ weight. Spring deflection will start with the additional loads of hitting bumps or landing from jumps. The 2010 through 2022 YZ450F and 2014 through 2023 YZ250F chassis are cramped. Works Connection’s new titanium footpeg mounts drop the footpegs down 7mm and rearward 5mm. This gives the cockpit a more natural and roomier fee.

With the footpegs being lower and farther back, it was easier to corner, easier to hit jumps, easier to navigate rough ground and better for tall riders.
