MXA’S WEEKEND NEWS UPDATE: LOTS OF NATIONAL NEWS…GOOD AND BAD

MOST INTERESTING NEW MODEL IN THE 2020 KTM LINE-UP — 2020 KTM 300XC TPI

KTM has been working on developing a fuel-injected two-stroke for the last ten years ago. Two years ago they released a limited number of  off-road 250XC-W TPI bikes to the U.S. market. Last year they expanded the number of bikes brought into the United States and added the 300cc version. But, for 2020 they will upgrade their fuel-injected bikes from their previous enduro set-up, with Xplor forks and PDS no-link rear suspension, to the KTM motocross frame, full-race XACT air forks and linkage rear suspension.

The new models will be available in 250cc and 300cc versions with TPI (Transfer Port Injection),  corrugated expansion chambers, WP XACT front forks, hydraulic DDS clutches, lateral counter balancers and six-speed transmissions. The new TPI bike is more of a race bike than the previous XC-W TPI. Husqvarna will also offer their own fuel-injected 300cc TX300i.Husqvarna TX300i 2020The 2020 Husqvarna TX300i.

MARTIN DAVALOS GETS A 450 FACTORY SHOT, BUT HE CAN’T TAKE IT

Word on the street is that Team Yamaha was interested in talking to Martin Davalos about riding for them in the 2019 AMA 450 National Championships. Davalos will race his final 250 Supercross race this weekend in Las Vegas by pointing out of the 250 East/West. Martin, has been in the 250 class for 13 years, but is ready to make the step up to the big class. Husqvarna did give him a one-time 450 shot  in the 2017 Nationals (largely because they were dropping him at the end of the year and thought it was a gamble worth taking). Davalos scored three top fives (two of them podiums) in his 12-race 450 debut. But, he got no 450 offers for 2018 and returned to the Pro Circuit 250 team for 2018-2019. So, the fact that Yamaha was interested in him as a fill-in rider for the upcoming 450 Nationals was good news. The bad news? Martin is signed to the Pro Circuit Kawasaki team through the 2019 National season.

With Martin Davalos pointing out of the 250 Supercross class (if he earns one point in Saturday’s Las Vegas Supercross), who will replacement him at Pro Circuit in 2020? The answer is Seth Hammaker.

BOLT HARDWARE’S SPECIAL EDITION LAS VEGAS SUPERCROSS BIKE STANDS

Bolt Hardware makes a wide range of bolt kits for modern motocross bikes. However, they do not make bike stands. But, they have found out that it is hard to make a bolt kit that stands out in the pits or on a bike. Bolt Hardware’s bolt kits are cool, but almost invisible when used properly. Thus, Bolt Hardware made some special, one-off, one of a kind motorcycle stands for the Vegas Supercross. The stands are machined out of pieces of solid billet 6061. Then, to make them “Las Vegas worthy,” Bolt embedded them with diamonds. Okay, not real diamonds! The special run of Bolt Hardware stands are not for sale, but will be under the bikes of Adam Enticknap (97), Bubba Pauli (282), Tyler Custer (424) and the BWR Engines and PRMX teams. Be sure to visit their pits to see the sparkle stands. www.boltmx.com

MOTOCROSS MOVIE FROM HOLLYWOOD: BENNETT’S WAR

Set to be released this Summer, “Bennett’s War” isn’t a jump video with nothing but music (and bad music at that). “Bennett’s War” is a full-blown Hollywood production. Of course, that means it has a plot, love interest and dialogue. It will be shown in theaters nationwide. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you don’t like it, even though you haven’t seen it. However, interest outside of the insular sport of motocross is fairly large,  given that 8,333,000 people watched the movie trailer (below) in less than five days days.
