Saturday at the MXDN is just to qualify for Sunday’s race. The three classes (250, 450 and Open) all race on Saturday and the nation with the lowest score gets first pick at the gate on Sunday. More importantly, only the top 19 teams are seeded into the Motocross des Nations. The remaining teams have to race the “B-Final” on Sunday morning?with all three team riders on the track against the other three-man teams that didn’t make the 19 team cut on Saturday. The team with the lowest combined three-man score in the B-Final transfers to the last gate pick in the three-motos of the Motocross des Nations.

Tony Cairoli won the 450 qualifier for Italy. Ryan Dungey was sixth. In the 250 class, Ken Roczen won for Germany. Blake Baggett was third. Justin Barcia and Jeffrey Herlings raced at the front of the Open class, but Barcia went into the banners and struggled to get out. He was disqualified for receiving outside help. Team USA dropped his score and ended up sixth overall for gate pick tomorrow.
