MXGP HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE GRAND PRIX OF TRENTINO

Obviously, Jeffrey Herlings has an agenda to become the winningest Grand Prix rider of all-time, but to make the number grow he has to keep on winning, but that didn’t happen in Trentino, Italy. Instead Jorge Prado and Maxime Renaux went one-two. Jeffrey did win the second moto, but his first moto 9th ,caused by a first turn crash with Jeremy Seewer and Romain Febvre, made even the third place that he got seem unlikely.  Herlings is now 26 points behind Jorge Prado, who has used the new Saturday qualifying points to maximum benefit. Because the riders can earn points on Saturday, which is just a trick from the Luongo clan to force the GP riders to race on Saturday —after last year’s qualifying race strikes—the points standings don’t always sync with the race results.

Meanwhile, in the 250 class the big news was that Liam Everts, son of Stefan Everts, stood on the second step on the podium, between winner Andrea Adamo and third place Jago Geerts. The second biggest surprise was that GasGas rider Simon Langenfelder posted an identical score as Jeffrey Herlings did in the 450 class (9-1). It got Herlings on the 450 podium, but Simon ended up fourth in the 250 class.

Jorge Prado (61) has led the 450 World Championship since round one.
