OCT 17– WHEN RUMORS TURN TRUE, RIDDLE QUITTING

Rumors running rampant through the motocross industry about Team Motoworld’s Ben Riddle quitting appear to be true. After only his second year as a professional, it appears Riddle is simply over the concept of racing professionally as of now and wants to set his goals elsewhere.

2001 might have proved disastrous to the rookie factory Suzuki rider, and the 2002 season surely didn’t help. Hired to fill Travis Pastrana’s shoes when Pastrana moved up to the 250’s full time, Riddle couldn’t find any luck on the circuit. Injuries continually plagued the 19 year old, leading to his eventual decision to stop doing what he has done since the age of eight, race motocross.

Paul Lindsey, team manager at Suzuki/Motoworld, confirmed that Ben in fact was quitting. Paul, like many people in the motocross industry, was upset when hearing the news but also saw his decision as a good thing. “You know, Ben’s decision came as a surprise, but by quitting he can truly find out what he wants to do with his life. He could either go out and get a job and discover how much he misses racing motocross and come back, or he could just be happy that he is now injury free.”

We say that we’d have to agree with Paul, and wish Ben Riddle the best on what he does in the future. Stay tuned, as we plan on a full interview with Ben about his past, present, and future.
