RICKY WINS EIGHTH OUT OF TEN–MARCH 24

It’s getting to sound like a broken record, but Ricky Carmichael won again…although this time he didn’t get the holeshot and pull away. Instead, he got a fifth place start and worked his way past Ferry, Windham, Lusk and McGrath. Ricky took the lead at the end of the fifth lap and that was it.

Mike LaRocco came from a seventh place start to finish third behind McGrath (who has become Mr. Second Place in 2001).

Travis Pastrana injured himself in Friday’s practice session and elected not to race the 250 class at Houston, although he claims he still intends to ride both the 125 East and 250 class at the next round.

David Vuillemin and Stephane Roncada both sat out the Houston race with injuries. Roncada might be back next week, but Vullie will probably miss at least four rounds with his broken collarbone.
