Everybody can come in and ride for a $10 donations to Tom White’s favorite charity — the High Hopes Head Injury Foundation. Not only can you ride for a charitable donation, but Chaparral Motorsports will be providing free lunch to all in attendance (from JoJo’s Grill-A Dog from 1:30 to 1:30 p.m). All of the Glen Helen tracks will be open and prepped including the National track, REM track, Pee-Wee track and Stadiumcross track. Plus, there will be a UTV trail ride on Glen Helen’s offroad course starting as 3:00 p.m.

Additionally, inside the Glen Helen Museum, the Pala National will be shown live starting at 1:00 p.m.

CLASSIC MXA TEST RIDER PHOTO: LOVE YA BUDDY!

MXA Managing Editor Daryl Ecklund and Kurt Caselli were childhood friends, racing buddies, roommates and definitely crazy.  For the November 2012 issue we were working on a KTM 125SX versus KTM 150SX Shootout and ask Kurt if he’s be willing to ride with Daryl for the MXA shootout photo. Kurt agreed instantly—even when we told him that he have to wear MXA’s orange helmet. We should have been suspicious right from the start. John Basher shot the photo above (which didn’t appeared on the cover), but he said that he had lots of close call photos from the shoot and we selected a different out-take. The cover photo (below) was one of the many close calls that these two friends had during the photo shoot. Neither one was willing to give an inch. The result was great photos and an afternoon of laughter. Luckily, no one was injured in the shooting of the cover.

WORLD DISTANCE RECORD ATTEMPT ON WATER: LUCA COLUMBO

We got an email from Luca Columbo showing us his all-new Honda CRF450 Hydro Bike. Luca, who previously set the world record for distance across the clear water of Italy’s Lake Como on a Suzuki RM-Z450, now wants to reset the record he set a couple years ago by riding all the way from the town of Gravedona to Colico on the other side of the famous Lake Como — a distance of 5 kilometers. He hydroplaned across the lake in under five minutes. Now, Luca plans to up the distance record. Luca has been preparing a Honda CRF450, made available by RedMoto.
