BIKES YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE: THE PUKI MOTOR CZ

Puki Motors built bikes in the late 1970s and 1980s that featured CZ 250 and 380 engines in Italian-built frames.

As the Czechoslovakia firm CZ began to lose momentum against the rapid pace of change brought on by the Japanese manufacturers, it’s loyal racers and dealers tried to keep pace with the Japanese manufacturers.

One such dealer was Puki, a CZ dealer in Italy. They built the vast majority of their bikes from the ground up, using only the engine and hubs (and the engine was hopped-up by Puki with reed valves, Motoplat ignition and exhaust pipe)—everything else was by Puki Motor.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON BUYS ELECTRIC MINI MAKER STACYC — STOCK SOARS

StaCyc Edrive.

Harley-Davidson has purchased StaCyc, which makes electric two-wheel cycles for kids. The StaCyc models range from $649 to $699, are closer to electric non-pedal BMX bikes than motorcycles and are sold through bicycle shops and at 29 Harley-Davidson stores. “We’ve said previously that we believe electric vehicles are where global mobility is headed and they hold great appeal for existing riders as well as opportunity to build new riders,” said Harley-Davidson Senior Vice President of Marketing Heather Malenshek. “As we lead in the electrification of motorcycling, we’re demonstrating our commitment by delivering a full range of electric products for a vast audience who will be inspired to imagine and discover what is possible from Harley-Davidson.”

Harley had previously announced that they would introduce a full-size electric motorcycle, starting with the LiveWire, which will be available for sale later this year. Shares of Harley-Davidson rose 5.2% in trading after Harley announced the StaCyc purchase.

NOT ANOTHER 2019 GRAND PRIX SCHEDULE? NUMBER SIX

Jeffrey Herlings MXGP of Switzerland_ Frauenfeld_ Round 16After changing the 2019 FIM World Motocross Championship schedule five times already, Youthstream changed it again.

The Shanghai, China, round has been moved from May 1 to September 15. Why? It might rain in May.  That means that the 2019 World Championships will end far away from their loyal European fans and that the teams have to be at the Motocross des Nations less than 4 days after the final round in Hong Kong  (yes, there are two rounds in China).
