SPECIAL EVENT! DON’T MISS IT: TOM WHITE’S “EARLY YEARS OF MOTOCROSS MUSEUM” TO BE OPENED TO THE PUBLIC THIS THURSDAY

Tom White stands at the front door of his pride and joy.

One of the world’s best motocross museums is also the least accessible to the public. Tom White’s private museum is only been opened up for public viewing twice a year since its inception. Although the museum has been used for press conferences, club meetings and special events (like the famous Joel Robert/Roger DeCoster cocktail party), the outside world rarely gets a look at the museum’s 117 classic bikes (all motocross bikes from 1976 on back).

Ever seen a magnesium engine, twin-carbed, Puch MC250 up close? You can at Tom White’s “Bikes and Burgers” night on December 8…if you are lucky enough to get in.

The 6500 square-foot museum features 700 pictures, posters, banners and cool memorabilia. And has some of the world’s most sought-after bikes, including one of only three twin-cylinder Husqvarnas ever built and an equally sought-after 1968 twin-pipe Suzuki TM250. Every bike has a placard identifying it and telling its story. Museum visitors can spend hours perusing the two-story layout and never see everything.

If you want a chance to visit the Early Year’s of Motocross museum, your next best chance will be on December 8, 2011. Tom White plans to open his museum up to a limited number of guests, but you have to email him to get a reservation. You must email [email protected] if you want a chance to see the museum. Tom’s “Bikes and Burgers” night is limited to the people who email and get a return reply with a map. There is a $20 minimum donation at the door (with all the proceeds go to the High Hopes Head Injury Center). Tom does these “Bikes and Burgers” nights for charity. He provides the bikes, burgers and special guest speakers, all you have to do is sign-up and show up. To see more about the museum go to www.earlyyearsofmx.com .
