“THE RACERS” 1978 MINT 400 TV SHOW HAS SOME SURPRISING FACES

Back in the glory days of desert racing the Mint 400 held the title of the toughest, most spectacular off-road race in North America. It was first run in 1968 and was sponsored by Las Vega’s Mint Hotel. In the 1978 Television show “The Racers,” hosted by Indy 500 winner Johnny Rutherford, you can watch the race and at 3:28 see an interview with two-time 500 World Champion Rolf Tibblin (1961-62), Then, at 5:30 in the video “On Any Sunday” star Malcolm Smith and Glen Helen’s Bud Feldkamp take center stage. There is even a Parnelli Jones interview at 8:50. Enjoy—especially Bud’s beard.
