THIS WEEK IN MXA: “I WAS A NEW GUY & I DON’T KNOW WHY”

The 2021 High Point National provided some amazing racing, especially in the 450 class. After a slow start to the season, Eli Tomac found his stride in 450 Moto 2 last Saturday and was seriously impressive. In the 250 class, it was Jalek Swoll who had a breakout weekend at Round 3. His 1-3 moto scores earned him his first 250 National podium and win. Interestingly, both Jalek and Eli talked in the post race press conference that they didn’t know what changed from Thunder Valley to High Point, but they both felt like new riders.

We also spoke to eight-time GNCC Champion Kailub Russell in this video as well. Kailub retired from off-road racing in 2020 and is now living out a life-long dream of racing a full season of the Pro Motocross series this summer for the Red Bull KTM team. He had a brutal pre-season injury where he broke his jaw and multiple ribs and this kept him off the bike for almost six weeks. Now, he’s back from injury and he recently jumped into the 250 National series at Round 3 scoring 15-21 finishes in the stacked class. In this video Kailub talks about his thought process for making his first real run at the AMA Nationals at 31-years-old, his goals for the summer and more.

We also spoke to BarX Suzuki 250 rider Dilan Schwartz as well. Dilan turned Pro last year has scored two top 10 finishes in three races so far. At Thunder Valley he went 8-12 for 9th overall and at High Point he went 6-13 for 9th overall again. Dilan spoke about the thoughts going through his head while running 6th place, how his first three rounds have gone and what it’s like to be racing a Suzuki 250 in this video.

Finally, Husqvarna just released their new Husqvarna E-bicycle division and they invited us to come ride their new bikes last week and we included video footage from that in this episode as well.
