THURSDAY AT GLEN HELEN
Matthew Bisceglia is a fill-in rider for Yoshimura Suzuki. Matt has raced 4 Nationals as a Suzuki fill in rider and is 20th in 450 Nationals points.
One of the games that the MXA wrecking plays on Thursdays at Glen Helen Helen Motocross Park is guessing how many factory riders will show up. Now, you might think that we are hoping that tons of National riders will be there, but the opposite is true. We want the track to be a “Factory-Free Zone” so that we can test a plethora of bikes, shootout test bike photos and maybe get in a bike test video or two. It’s not that we don’t like to see the stars, it’s just that they are so fast that they blow every other rider off the track.
Zach Osborne is sixth in the AMA 250 Championship points.
This week was the first week of a 21-day break in the AMA Nationals, and as MXA gathered in the upper pits, we guessed that no stars would show up on this Thursday. We thought they would take advantage of the time off to get some R&R. Plus, it was 103-degrees. We were wrong. We started at 8:00 a.m. on a video for the 2017 Husqvarna FC450 with Travis Fant doing the shooting and Dennis Stapleton on the bike. We had two 250 Pros, of different weights, running through fork setting on the 2017 KTM 250SXF, 350SXF and Yamahaa YZ250. And, as we finished the first couple session the parade of box vans started to roll into the pits. First came Team Kawasaki with Tyler Bowers, next was RCH Suzuki (minus Roczen and Tickle), then Team Husqvarna , Star Yamaha and lots of individual riders comeing through the gates at regular intervals.
Mitch Harrison is 14th in the 2016 the AMA 250 National Championships.
So, between changing air pressures in the out KTM’s and Husky FC450, we shot photos of the Pro as they circulated. Here is a small sampling of what an off-week Thursday is like at Glen Helen.
Jason Anderson is back on the bike. He only raced the first 4 National before getting hurt. We’ve seen him at a couple different tracks lately, so he will probably be back on the National circuity once the break is over.
Tyler Bowers is another fill-in rider. He has filled in for Wil Hahn/Josh Grant for the last 4 Nationals. See our interview with him here.
Dean Wilson is working to get his fitness back up. He missed two-thirds of the 2016 National season due knee surgery.
Jake Weimer was riding RCH last Thursday. Will he fill-in for Broc Tickle again?
While he retired in 2014, “Hot Sauce” has been on the bike quite a bit this past week. Ivan Tedesco rode the 125 Dream Rrace preview at Washougal and at the Fox/Shift gear intros.
Davi Millsaps is on his way to a Canadian National Championship with three races to go.
Cole Martinez has 56 points in the 2016 season. He is filling-in for Tommy Hahn.
Asutralian Luke Clout has 12 points in the 2016 Nationals. It is a tough 250 class to be in this year.
Justin Hoeft is gearing up for next year in the big show.
Geico Honda’s Tristan Charboneau.
Jessy Nelson has 90 AMA points in the 2016 AMA 250 National season.
Aaron Plessinger is seventh in the AMA 250 Nationla Championship.
