WATCH THE 2022 HANGTOWN NATIONAL MOTOCROSS IN UNDER 6 MINUTES

Two rounds into the 2022 AMA National Motocross Championship you couldn’t ask for two races with so much drama (even if the National TV package couldn’t guarantee that al of its subscribers got what they paid for). The first round at Pala Raceway was exciting in that it highlighted Honda’s return to pre eminence in the sport as they swept the top two spots in both classes.

The second round at the Hangtown National Motocross showed that thre were more players than just those dressed in Honda red. Last week’s 450 double moto winner, Chase Sexton, got run down by Jason Anderson in the first 450 moto in NorCal and by Eli Tomace in the second stanza. By the end of the day Jason Anderson took the overal lHangtown win with a 1-3—both earned by blazing speed in the last ten minutes of both motos.

While Jett Lawrence did manage to win the 250 class for the second week in a row, it wasn’t as easy or convincing as the week before. Jett, suffering from some sort of illness, couldn’t match Michael Mosiman’s blazing lap times in the first moto and had to follow Mosiman and Justin Cooper across the line in third. Jett came back in the second 250 moto to dangle out in front of his chasers, which didn’t include first moto winner Mosiman or title contender R.J Hampshire—both victims of crashes. By the checkers, Jett Lawrence took the overall with a 3-2 over Justin Cooper’s 2-3 and Hunter Lawrence’s 4-2.

On pure speed, Jason Anderson was the rider who made all the moves and passes in the 450 class, while Jo Shimoda turned in lap times in the second 250 moto that were a full second faster than the front runners—Jo finished fourth in the second moto after crashing and getting up of the ground and catching back up to the front three.
