WATCH THE 2023 DENVER SUPERCROSS IN UNDER 12-MINUTES

All the 2023 AMA Supercross Championships have been decided with Hunter Lawrence winning the 250 East, Jett Lawrence the 250 West and Chase Sexton the all-important AMA 450 Supercross crown. Sexton will have to wait until next week to be officially named the 2023 Supercross Champion, but it was a foregone conclusion when Eli Tomac slowed on the track and pulled over to the side with a ruptured Achilles tendon. Sexton swept by the injured Tomac to not only erase his 18-point deficit to Eli in the 2023 title chase, but to cross the line with an insurmountable lead over the only other contender still healthy enough to circulate the track.

Sexton went from 18 points behind Eli Tomac to 7 points ahead of him (and since Tomac’s 2023 season is over, and he will not be at next’s weeks Salt Lake City final, all the air has gone out of the Supercross points chase).  Cooper Webb is 42 points behind Sexton (Webb suffered a concussion last week and has also pulled out the 2023 title chase). That leaves Ken Roczen as the closest active (uninjured) rider in the Championship chase, but Roczen is 43 points adrift of Sexton and there are only 26 points left to win in Salt Lake. Ken Roczen will end up third in the 2023 AMA 450 Supercross Championship behind Sexton and Tomac, but he has to score two points in Salt Lake to knock Cooper off of the season long podium.

It is a sad state of affairs that the 2023 Supercross season will end next Saturday with second place (Tomac), fourth place (Webb), fifth place (Barcia), sixth place (Anderson) and seventh place (Plessinger) all on the injured list. The 2023 Supercross Championship turned into a massacre of the best riders in the sport.

In the 250 West event, R.J. Hampshire won, but all eyes were on Jett Lawrence who was busy working his way up from a bad start. Once he was in the top ten, he automatically became  the 2023 AMA East Supercross Champion, but he manages to get third behind R.J. Hampshire and Levin Kitchens.
