WATCH THE GLENDALE 250/450 SUPERCROSS IN UNDER 17 MINUTES

As Aaron Plessinger (7) loses the front end and falls, Ken Roczen (94) sets sail for a big win.

In the 450 class, Ken Roczen took his Suzuki RM-Z450 to a flag-to-flag victory. It was Roczen’s 22nd 450 Supercross career win. Ken is now 10th on the all-time Supercross win list. Second in Glendale was Jason Anderson, who was thrilled with second because this is the closest race to his home state of New Mexico. Anderson was the fastest qualifier. Aaron Plessinger was running second ahead of Anderson when he lost the front end and went down. He remounted way back, but came through to finished tenth and hold on to third in 440 points. Jett Lawrence made steady progress from his mediocre start, with the occasional errors slowing his progress, but Jett worked his way up to third by the checkers. Lawrence’s 3rd was good enough to give him the Red Plate for the next round, which is in two weeks in Texas. Chase Sexton was the Red Plate holder in Glendale, but hurt his hand in a mid-week practice crash and held on to finish 9th. Sexton is now second in 450 points, but only 6 points back (with a week off next Saturday to heal).

RJ Hampshire Glendale Supercross 2024_RJ Hampshire-2R. J. Hampshire won the opening round of the 250 West at Anaheim back on January 6 and repeated in Glendale on February 10. He went 1-9-6-2-1 in the first five races.

In the 250 West class, after one week off for the first round of the 250 East in Detroit, the 250 West oicked up for their fifth round (before taking a long break to allow the 250 East to catch up on the number of events. R.J. Hampshire came from 5th place to win the Glendale round, with early leader Levi Kitchen in second and into sole possession of the Red Plate after Jordon Smith crashed back to 4th place. Kitchen now has a 4-point lead on Smith, who is only 1 point ahead of Hampshire. Honda’s Jo Shimoda stood on the podium for the first time in 2024 with a third. Unfortunate news for Nate Thrasher. He crashed hard on the second lap of his 250 West heat race and brought out a Red Flag and a restart. Nate had won the San Diego round, but three bad races out of the first five, have left him 56 points behind the points leader.
