2020 YAMAHA YZ250X TWO-STROKE: WHAT’S IT GOOD FOR?

The 2020 Yamaha YZ250X two-stroke isn’t quite an off-road ready bike (because it doesn’t have a big tank) and with its softer suspension, 18-inch rear wheel, kick stand and off-road specific engine specs, it’s not quite a motocross bike either. We often get questions, “Why is MXA testing more off-road bikes now?” Well, technically the YZ250X is a cross-country specific machine, but it does interest many of our readers who enjoy riding in the desert one weekend and riding at the track the next. It also has a few specific traits that are better than the YZ250 (for some riders) on the motocross track too. For that reason, we talked Yamaha into loaning us the 2020 Yamaha YZ250X two-stroke and we put it through the MXA testing process which included both riding and racing on motocross tracks and even some trail riding in the woods.
