2021 WASHOUGAL NATIONAL PRE-RACE REPORT: MAVTV TO SHOW ALL-FOUR MOTOS LIVE

2019 Washougal AMA national motocross -49662021 WASHOUGAL NATIONAL PRE-RACE REPORT: INJURED LIST, TV SCHEDULE & MORE

The seventh round of the 2021 Pro Motocross season lands itself in the beautiful state of Washington, as we head up North to Washougal MX Park to race on Saturday, July 24. We weren’t able to visit the Washougal woods last year as the round was canceled due to Covid restrictions in Washington. Thankfully for us and the fans, the Covid restrictions in Washington have died down allowing us to visit one of the most exciting venues of the season. Washougal offers plenty of elevation, big jumps, and a mixture of dirt that is offered nowhere else on the circuit.

If you’re planning to watch the Washougal on TV from the comfort of your couch, you’ll need to subscribe the MavTV channel or pay for the Peacock Premium online subscription streaming service. The NBC Sports Network has been hosting all of the second motos for Pro Motocross this season, but they’ll miss out on Washougal because they’re busy showing coverage from the Olympics in Tokyo from now until August 8th. The Olympics have priority over Pro Motocross and this is one of the reasons for the three-week (two weekend) break in the series after Washougal. The other reason is that the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National is going from August 2nd-7th and National promoter MX Sports needs all hand on deck at the Loretta Lynn Dude Ranch.

RACING IN A FOREST

Eli Tomac 2019 WASHOUGAL MOTOCROSS NATIONAL--39The Pacific Northwest is covered in trees and the Washougal track is surrounded by them as well.

Many of the National tracks have trees but none have trees like the state of Washington. Some parts of the track are shrouded by the forest canopy, creating huge shadows and dark spots on the technical terrain. The dirt is a mixture of clay and loam which holds the moisture well as the track crew typically does a pretty good job at watering the track.

THE EVER-EXCITING 450 CLASS

The 450 class is one not to miss.

Dylan Ferrandis remains in charge of the premier class points lead as the chaotic 450 motos left us on our toes at Spring Creek. After a devastating first moto, second in points Ken Roczen was left out of the race but would bring it back in the second moto and win. Dylan Ferrandis would have an awesome first moto but then have several crashes in the second, still bringing it back to fifth place. Now, Dylan has an even greater lead on Ken Roczen while both Justin Barcia and Eli Tomac close the gap on second place.

JUSTIN COOPER BECOMES THE NEW POINTS LEADER

His teammate may have won the overall, but it’s Justin Cooper who now owns the red plate.

Jeremy Martin had a comeback ride at his home track, going 1-1 for the weekend, but the major shift in the 250 class lies in the points. After landing in fourth place in the first moto, previous red plate holder Jett Lawrence would find himself in the middle of the chaotic second moto crash. This would result in him finishing in sixth place while opponent Justin Cooper would finish in third and become the points leader.

Zach Osborne 2021 Thunder Valley National
Zach Osborne re-aggravated the back injury he sustained while training during the Supercross season at the Thunder Valley National and he is out for the summer.

A bad get-off in practice would result in a broken hand. It is uncertain when or if Jason will be back.

CAMERON MCADOO | FRACTURED TIBIA

Cameron McAdoo was decommissioned after a very unfortunate crash during the second moto at Fox Raceway, fracturing the top of his tibia and pulling his ACL. Cameron has already begun the surgery and healing process and we’re hoping to see him back on the track.
