DYLAN FERRANDIS INJURY UPDATE: OUT FOR 2023 DETROIT SUPERCROSS

Supercross is one of the toughest sports in the world, and it’s extra tough to compete when you’re battling through injuries. For Supercross racers, when it rains, it pours—one injury often leads to another. Dylan started off the season strong, with a fourth at Anaheim 1, sixth at San Diego, and fifth at Anaheim 2. Praising the Yamaha team for the cornering abilities of his new 2023 YZ450F, Dylan was fast and consistent to start the year. Unfortunately, while battling with Ken Roczen in the Houston Main Event, Dylan went down hard, hitting his head hard, and knocking himself unconscious. The race was red-flagged while Dylan was hauled off the track on the Alpinestars medic cart.

Dylan took two weekends off, missing the Tampa and Oakland events. Then, he tried to come back for the Daytona SX, but a big crash during press day put him back on the sidelines. Thursday, March 16th, the Star Racing Yamaha team posted via Instagram, saying: “Dylan Ferrandis will be out of action for the next several weeks as he focuses on returning to full fitness following his crash at Round 4. Dylan recently sought further evaluation and has begun a three-week rehabilitation to return to 100% and aims to resume racing before the end of the SX season.”

Looking back at the 2022 season, Dylan hurt his wrist at the 2022 Detroit Supercross, and ultimately opted out of the rest of the Supercross season, to let his wrist heal and prepare for the Outdoor Nationals. Then, during a press day on Tuesday before the Fox Raceway National, the season opener of the 2022 Pro Motocross series, Dylan crashed and injured his thumb. This was heartbreak for Dylan, who had won the 2021 Pro Motocross title in the 450 class, and was coming into the season with the number one plate.

Dylan returned to the series at the Unadilla National, only to be taken out by Justin Barcia, one week later at Budds Creek, which forced him to take a few more weeks off the bike and miss the remaining races.
