THIS WEEKEND! THE “SATURDAY AT THE GLEN” WILL BE “SUNDAY AT THE GLEN” BECAUSE OF LATEST RAIN STORMS
On Saturday, February 8, Glen Helen was forced to cancel the “Saturday at the Glen” race because of constant rain storms that pushed the yearly rain total to 5.3 inches of rain (the normal yearly rainfall at Glen Helen is 15 inches, but over the last two years it has been record setting 35 inches). To save the race, Glen Helen announced that they were moving last week’s “Saturday at the Glen” race to Sunday, February 15. Guess what? It started raining again on Wednesday and is predicted to keep raining all the way through Friday.
The most thrilling and chilling section of Glen Helen is the 70 mph charge to the steeply banked 180-degree first turn
In order to save the “Saturday at the Glen” race, Glen Helen looked at the weather forecast and moved the rescheduled February 15 race to Sunday February 16—which promises to be sunny and warm. That will give Glen Helen’s John Allen enough time, after the rain stops, to repair the rain-soaked National track.
