WATCH JORGE PRADO TAKE THE 450 POINTS LEAD AT THE GRAND PRIX OF CHINA
The 2023 FIM 450 World Championship has a new leader, as Jorge Prado fought through the heat, humidity, condensed schedule (to avoid a Typhoon) and even a little illness to take his GasGas MC450F to his 48th Grand Prix victory in China. The Spaniard will now take the red plate to the final round of the season, in his home country—before moving to the USA to race in the future! Tim Gajser had a substantial points lead over Prado a month ago, but the efforts of Prado and Jeffrey Herlings clawed the points back and when Gajser finished 17th in the first moto all of his points lead disappeared. Prado now leads the 450 World Championship by 7 points over Gajser and gets home court advantage for the finale.
Jorge Prado (1) has one more race in the MXGP series before switching to the AMA Supercross and National Championship series in 2025. Tim Gajser can still wrestle the 2025 450 crown out of Jorge Prado’s hands at the final round. Tim is just 7 points behind.
The MX2 title fight saw Lucas Coenen take his eighth 250 GP victory of the year for the Nestaan Husqvarna team, passing his teammate and Championship leader Kay de Wolf on the track in the process! DeWolf settled for second place overall because he still has a 36-point lead over Coenen in the 250 title chase. The 250 finale will be in the village of Cozar, Spain on September 29.
