WHAT’S IT DO?

Sixsixone did it right. They started out small, entering the protection business primarily in the mountain bike marketplace. Then with plenty of crossover into the motocross market, they slowly began promoting their products to motocross racers. My, how the company has grown. Now Sixsixone has three full-fledged gear divisions: one for bikes, one for moto, and one for snow. Are we surprised by the growth of Sixsixone? No! Helmed by Eddie Cole (former Kawasaki factory racer and the man behind Answer), Sixsixone has been growing by leaps and bounds. Last year, they added boots to their lineup. This year, it’s the revitalization of their top-of-the-line Flight helmet. The shell itself remains the same, but everything else is brand new from the ground up.

WHAT STANDS OUT?

Here’s a list of things that stand out with Sixsixone’s Hurricane Flight helmet.

(1) Look. We like the shell of the Hurricane Flight helmet. It has good lines without going crazy with ridges and creases. The graphics package and rear wing were created by Axcel and, in our opinion, are better than most of the offerings out there. Sixsixone’s shell also has a large eyeport that easily housed every size goggle we threw at it.

(2) Fit. Last year’s Sixsixone Flight helmet left a little to be desired in fit and feel. The previous liner wouldn’t allow your head to completely settle down into the helmet. This made the helmet sit uncomfortably high on your head. That sensation is long gone. The liner is ergonomically correct, and your head slides right into the helmet without a problem.

(3) Liner. The Hurricane Flight has a three-piece, washable, Savole fabric liner. The liner offers plenty of padding all the way around your head and does a good job of wicking sweat away.

(4) Visor. The Hurricane Flight has a visor Sixsixone

should be proud of. It’s long, easy to adjust and, better yet, they include a spare visor and helmet bag with every helmet.

(5) Weight. The Sixsixone Hurricane Flight helmet

utilizes a Kevlar/carbon fiber/fiberglass composite shell, but still weighs in at a portly three pounds, eight ounces.

(6) Place of Manufacture. The Sixsixone Hurricane Flight helmet is made in Korea.
