THE SEASON VICTORS HAVE A COMBINED AGE OF 82

Jeff Ward is the only rider in AMA history to have won: (1) The National Minicycle Championship. (2) The AMA 125 National Championship. (3) The AMA 250 National Championship. (4) The AMA 250 Supercross Championship. (5) The Motocross des Nations. (6) The AMA 500 National Championship.(7) The AMA Supermoto Championship.

Ward chased Jurgen Kunzel for 16 of the 18 laps in the Las Vegas Supermoto Final. Ward won his third AMA Supermoto of the season, but more importantly clinched the AMA Supermoto Championship (20 years after he won his first AMA 125cc National Championship).

Kunzel was second, David Baffeleuf third, Kurt Nicoll fourth and Doug Henry fifth at Vegas. Doug was a title contender going into the weekend, but Henry had to win, and Ward had to have problems. It didn’t happen as Wardy clinched the deal. Last year’s Champion, Ben Bostrom finished 13th at Bally’s in Vegas.

In the Unlimited class, a very young 39-year-old Kurt Nicoll won the Unlimited Final and won his first-ever AMA National title.
