YAMAHA RECALLS ALL 2006 YZ250F’S

ÿ

Yamaha has decided to do a complete recall of every 2006 YZ250F. It has been brought to their attention that the intake valves are prone to breaking at very high rpms. The MXA Wrecking Crew knows about this first hand as our very own 2006 YZ250F suffered a dreaded intake valve failure.

ÿ

We applaud Yamaha for going forward with a full recall on all 2006 YZ250F units as this is the right thing to do even though it will be a time consuming process.

ÿ

What follows is the official letter sent out to all YZ250F owners from Yamaha.

JUNE 12, 2006

Dear Yamaha YZ250F Owner:

Thank you for purchasing the 2006 YZ250F shown on the label above. We are confident that this motorcycle gives you exceptional track performance no matter which class you race. Yamaha has determined that some intake valves manufactured for the YZ250FV and FSPV have experienced fatigue at the neck area when operated at maximum rpm, causing loss of power and possible engine failure. Your YZ might have been built with these valves.

ÿ

To ensure that your YZ does not experience this problem, Yamaha will replace all three intake valves on your YZ250F free of charge for parts and labor even if the motorcycle is out of warranty.

ÿ

To get the free intake valve replacement, simply call your dealer and make an appointment so he can be sure to have the parts in stock. The job takes just over 4 hours to perform, but your dealer may need to hang onto your YZ longer depending upon his Service Department schedule.

ÿ

Thank you again for owning a YZ250F. We know you have a choice in motorcycle brands and appreciate that you have chosen to be part of the growing Yamaha family. Please take advantage of this offer today by calling your dealer and scheduling the valve replacement.

ÿ

Sincerely,
