BOMBARDIER EMBRIO: A UNICYCLE MOTORCYCLE
What would happen if you could mate a Segway Human transporter to a motorcycle? Bombardier, the same company that produces wave runners, airplanes and Can-Am ATVs has given the task a shot. The result? The Bombardier (say Bomb-bar-dee-ay) Embrio. Since it won’t be available until 2025, the power is going to come from a hydrogen fuel cell that mixes hydrogen and oxygen, together to create water as a by product.
Other advanced technologies in the concept’s design include infrared night vision and an active suspension. A small wheel on the front keeps the Embrio stable when you start or stop but retracts after you hit 12 miles per hour.
The Embrio unicycle project was conceived as an exercise in forward thinking: What will the future of recreational transportation be like? Bombardier Recreational Products designers were asked to come up with a prospective concept for a recreational vehicle that would meet the needs of people in the year 2025.
The Bombardier Embrio concept is one of several concepts that were proposed by different internal design teams of Bombardier Recreational Products which had to respect the design philosophy “to create highly innovative, functional and exciting products to exceed people’s recreational needs.” The resulting concept is a minimalist, pure and simplified design that uses clean lines and on which the human print is obvious, yet fully blended in the overall styling theme.
