HAIDEN DEEGAN INTERVIEW: “OBVIOUSLY, I WANT TO WIN THIS CHAMPIONSHIP”

It was the last 250 West Coast round in Arlington, Texas where Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan rebounded to his winning ways after a somewhat mediocre 2025 supercross series. After winning the 2023 and 2024 SMX championships, and the 2024 250 motocross title, Haiden has made it known, he wants the 2025 West Coast 250 Supercross title before moving up to the 450 class. We caught up with Haiden during the press day at Indy.

Haiden Deegan did not seem like himself on the track at the beginning of the season. He changed his weekly program and we saw him shine in Arlington.

HAIDEN, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WIN AT ARLINGTON, AND HAVING THE RED PLATE. Thank you, yes, I’m 1005 back to having that speed, and send it factor. It feels good, and I’ve now had a couple of weeks of solid base riding and building the speed back up.

Haiden Deegan now sits six points ahead of Julien Beaumer heading into the East/West showdown.

WILL YOU BE RACING ANY DIFFERENTLY NOW HAVING THE RED PLATE? Obviously, I want to win this championship – that is the main goal! So, I need to ride smart, but I am a racer, and I want to win. If I’m in a position to take a win, I’m going for it-if not, I’ll just go for maximum points.

Haiden Deegan has always had the best technique when it comes to the more complicated sections of the track like the whoops.

WHAT DO YOU ATTRIBUTE THE RESULTS IN YOUR EARLIER RACES TO? I was just slow to get started, and my actual starts were terrible. But I’ve been spending extra time working in things to get out of the gate better. I started better at Arlington, and that was a big help!

HOW DOES INDY, BEING AN EAST WEST COAST SHOOTOUT AFFECT YOU, ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT THE EAST COAST RIDERS? I’m only thinking back to outdoors and SMX last year, when I pretty much crushed all these guys, I just need to be that same rider again and hold my head high.
