Wardy Goes 6-7-4-3 In The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series At Primm

Jeff Ward is probably happy with his success in motocross, supermoto and Indy cars, but has branched out into offroad trucks. Wardy showed up at the first two rounds of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and raced in the Unlimited 2 and Unlimited 4/2 classes. As the weekend progressed, Jeff got better and eventually made the podium in his final race of the weekend at Primm, Nevada.

Motorcycle riders Carey Hart, Brian Deegan, Chuck Dempsey and Robert Naughton also raced. Naughton is a true-to-life star in the Unlimited Lite class?winning both days

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series was formed by Tony Vanillo in 2009 and is a short course racing sanctioning body. The series was born from a style of racing which began in the early 70’s and hit mainstream in 2006.

The Lucas classes are as follows:

UNLIMITED 4: Full-size 4WD race vehicles, V8 engines, 800 + HP

UNLIMITED 2: Full-size 2WD race vehicles, V8 engines, 800 + HP

UNLIMITED LITE: Compact/Mid-sized 2WD race vehicles, 4 cylinder engines, 300 HP

SUPER LITE: Mid-size 2WD, two seat, 200 HP, Spec class

UNLIMITED BUGGY: 1650 cc water-cooled 4 cylinder and VW Type 1 engine

LIMITED BUGGY: 1600 cc VW Type 1 engine
KART: Single seat, custom-built mini race trucks, Drivers 8 – 15 years old

Traditionally held once a year in December for the past 5 years, the Baja Cup Challenge now has multiple visits to the famed Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA. This race has provided some of the most exciting and thrilling racing on dirt, while receiving praise from race drivers regarding the track layout. The Glen Helen Baja Cup Challenge has been host to many race classes and race drivers, from beginners to the Elite Professionals.

Gate Fees: $10 for Adults, $5 for Children (6-12 yrs. old) and free for Children under 6 yrs. old. Pit area access is FREE for teams, families and spectators. Overnight camping is FREE on Saturday night for race teams.

Race Classes: All desert classes for trucks and buggies, UTV’s and Trophy Karts

Race Entry Fees: $300 for trucks and buggies, $50 for UTV’s and Trophy Karts

SATURDAY EVENT SCHEDULE ? APRIL 11TH

Gates Open: Saturday, April 11th at 7am.for move-in and pit set-up

Registration Open: Located in the main tower, near the main grandstands for Driver sign-up and check-in from 8am ? 3pm.

Tech & Safety Inspection: Located in the main pit area (south lot), tech services provided by Art Savedra and the ARTS Tech Team from 8am ? 3pm.

Trophy Karts: Located on the kart track adjacent to the main pit area. Practice from 11am ? 12pm, racing from 12pm ? 2pm.

Drivers Meeting: Located in the main pit area at 2:30pm

Race Course Pre-run: Track open for all drivers and vehicles for a controlled-speed pre-run. NO RACING! Anyone racing or at race speed will be removed from the track. Pre-run from 3pm ? 4pm

UTV Race: Starting on the main national track from 4:30pm ? 5:00pm (race duration « hour)

Truck & Buggy Race: Starting on the main national MX track from 5:30pm ? 7:30pm (race duration 2 hours)

Spectator Areas: Several excellent spectator areas are available for viewing. Please stay within the designated spectator areas and do not enter or stand near the race course. Designated areas include: the main grandstand area and fence line, main pit area, on the hill next to the REM motocross track and in the overnight parking area.
