KAWASAKI STOP-SALE ISSUED FOR 2025 KX450 MODELS
KAWASAKI STOP-SALE ISSUED FOR 2025 KX450 MODELS
Over the weekend, Kawasaki owners began receiving letters concerning the reliability of their 2025 Kawasaki KX450. Unfortunately, Kawasaki’s quality assurance team noticed some irregular wear on the primary gear of their KX450 models during some routine durability testing.
Kawasaki has issued a stop-sale notice for their 2025 KX450, KX450X and KX450SR models, but it’s not a “stop-ride” notice, meaning that this isn’t a full recall of all previously sold KX450 bikes. Since the issue was found during Kawasaki’s in-house dyno testing and it hasn’t been brought up as a problem in the real-world, Kawasaki hasn’t recalled any of their previously sold bikes yet.
As of now, 2025 model Kawasaki KX450 owners are encouraged to check their VIN with their dealer to see if they should be worried. The notice also explains that the dealers don’t have repair information yet, but that they’ll get it in mid-April.
We have three KX450’s in our fleet, the 2025 Kawasaki KX450, the KX450X cross-country machine and the KX450 Special Racer Edition. As of March 11th, 2025, we’re going to continue riding our KX450s until we hear anything that suggests we do otherwise. We’ll update this article if/when more information becomes available.
