MXA TEAM TESTED: ONE INDUSTRIES X-197 GEAR

WHAT IS IT? One Industries was founded as a graphics and seat-cover company out of San Diego in 1997 and grew in popularity in the early 2000s with the introduction of their helmets. The brand jumped into the gear market at the end of 2008. Then, One Industries went on hiatus in 2016 until almost a decade later when One Industries made its comeback in 2024.

With the tagline “1 of One,” the company specializes in high-end motocross gear for riders who want to feel as good as they look. One Industries spares no expense on the quality of their materials and construction, and they’re not shy about trying unique colorways and selling their gear on the upper end of the price scale.

WHAT’S IT COST? $80.00 (jersey), $220.00 (pants).

WHAT STANDS OUT? Here’s a list of things that stand out with One Industries’ X-197 gear.(1) Jersey. One’s X-197 jersey is made for comfort and breathability with four-way-stretch material throughout the main body and arms. Plus, One uses a ventilated, 360-degree fabric between the arms and torso that helps promote airflow, and snugly fits the jersey to your chest protector and upper body. It also has pre-bent, articulated arms. The jersey has an athletic fit, but it’s not uncomfortably tight by any means. Order your standard size for a traditional fit, and order a size down for the race-style slim fit that all the Supercross riders are sporting nowadays. Both work, and both look good with this jersey. (2) Pants. Right away, when you slip into the One Industries X-197 pants, you’ll realize what attention to detail means when it comes to motocross pants. One mixes two-way- and four-way-stretch polyester and nylon materials throughout the pants to promote durability, mobility, and comfort. The pants have an athletic fit, which is well tailored to accommodate knee braces and larger knee pads. The waist belt and ratchet system also help create precise fitment by offering almost 2 inches of adjustability for riders who need to go a little tighter or looser, depending on how strict they’ve been with their diet.

Both the pants and the jersey feature laser-cut cooling vents. These vents are silicone-edged to ensure they don’t rip easily; however, if you go down hard enough, you can tear a hole in the pants. Adding to the cool factor are the embossed One Industries logos throughout the genuine-leather heat shields on the knees. Last but not least, the welded and taped seams inside the pants maximize comfort. The X-197 pants don’t come with an inner mesh liner, so your legs and knee braces are in direct contact with the shell of the pants. With the stitch-less welded and taped seams, these pants feel as comfortable as pajamas while perfectly contouring to the shape of your legs.

(3) Sizing options. With their goal of standing out from the crowd, One Industries has gone the extra mile to make riders feel comfortable with the fit and function of their gear. In the Uno Black colorway, One offers lots of extra sizing options. They have size 31-, 33-, and 35-inch waistbands, plus they also have size 32-long, 34-long and 36-long—all of which offer an extra 3 inches in length to meet the needs of taller riders. Of course, these options are only available for the black/white X-197 pants, but at least these pants match well with a majority of One’s X-197 jerseys.

(4) Sublimation. If you want to experience the finer things in life, One Industries offers Race Spec, made-to-order sublimated jerseys with your name and number printed into the jersey fabric, just like the factory riders. These jerseys are custom-made in Southern California, and they’re made with a four-way-stretch mesh material throughout the jersey. The custom jersey costs an extra $20, and it can take up to 30 days to process the order.

WHAT’S THE SQUAWK? The ratchet strap on the pants works great, but we don’t like how it sticks out in the air once cinched down.

MXA RATING: If you can’t already tell, our test riders love the One Industries X-197 gear. It’s comfortable, durable and stylish.
