MXA’S WEEKEND NEWS ROUND-UP: A BIG YEAR FOR NEW & OLD MOTOCROSS BIKES

• FIRST LOOK! 2025 SUZUKI RM-Z250 & RM-Z450

2025 SUZUKI RM-Z450— $9,299

Race results prove that the 2025 RM-Z450 remains the champion’s choice. The RM-Z450’s sleek, race-ready appearance, strong engine, and nimble chassis provide the effective power and precise handling required to continue Suzuki’s race-winning legacy. The RM-Z450’s controllable engine will captivate you with its high peak power, as its agile chassis continues to be the class standard for cornering performance, with the added bonus of legendary Suzuki reliability.

Tuning the electronic fuel injection and ignition systems for maximum performance is easy thanks to Suzuki’s smartphone-based MX-Tuner 2.0 or proven fuel-coupler system included with each RM-Z450. Whether you are racing under stadium lights or enjoying a track day with friends and family, the 2025 RM-Z450 will bring serious MX performance in a smart, reliable way.

It would be unrealistic to expect Suzuki to produce an all-new line of motocross bikes—they haven’t  done it in over the last7 seven model years, why would the start now?

2025 SUZUKI RM-Z250—$8,199

With a versatile engine and responsive chassis, the 2025 RM-Z250 remains the choice of professionals and privateers everywhere. Fed by a dual-injector EFI system the RM-Z250’s four-stroke, four-valve engine delivers strong, usable power through the entire rev range.

Tuning the fuel injection and ignition for maximum performance is easy and quick thanks to Suzuki’s smartphone-based MX-Tuner 2.0, and proven fuel-coupler system. The RM-Z250 continues its reputation as the best-handling 250 through a twin-spar aluminum frame and hydro-formed swingarm that carry a KYB® suspension including a coil spring fork and rear shock with four-way damping force adjustment.

The ergonomically shaped bodywork lets the rider easily maneuver the RM-Z250 around the racetrack. Ready for competition or pleasure, the 2025 RM-Z250 delivers outstanding motocross performance in an intelligent and reliable way.

•  MEMORIES OF THE WAY WE WERE: MXA’S FAVORITE JEREMY McGRATH PHOTO

TRmcgrath1Back in 1990, when nobody outside of Perris Raceway knew who Jeremy McGrath was, the MXA wrecking crew knew that Jeremy was a natural talent and ask him to join the MXA wrecking crew as a test rider. This is our favorite photo of Jeremy. He is testing the 1990 Kawasaki KX250 two-stroke and wearing MXA’s famous Indian headress helmet.

• BIKES YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE: CZ TYPE 860 V4 350

The Type 860 was a 350cc V4 four-stroke road racer that was started in 1965, but not raced until 1969 because of limited communist funding. It was a 350 for several years and was then bumped up to 418cc in 1971. The original eight-speed transmission was dumped when the FIM banned anything with more than six-speeds. It never won a race, but finished second once. The Czech goverment ordered them destroyed after their racing days were over, but the ever enterprising Czech mechanics saved most of them.
