2025 THUNDER VALLEY NATIONAL PRE-RACE REPORT: INJURY REPORT, TV SCHEDULE & MORE

On to the third round of the pro motocross series and we head to Thunder Valley and thus far this season Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan have been dominant. Last weekend in the 450 class we saw Aaron Plessinger and Eli Tomac create a lead on Jett Lawrence as they were able to grab first and second. They could potentially grab a win in the upcoming races and Thunder Valley is a hometown race for Eli. In the 250 class, Jo Shimoda has kept Deegan in sight in the points chase as he has grabbed second in each moto thus far. Thunder Valley is at elevation so we should see a small decrease in power for the bikes. It’s also one of the most technical and rutted tracks in the series which should make for some good racing.

DEEGAN JOINING THE RECORD BOOKS

Haiden Deegan has been dominant this season so far.

Deegan captured his second win of the season with a dominant 1-1 performance, becoming the first Yamaha rider to win Rounds 1 and 2 in back-to-back seasons. He now joins Mark Barnett as the only two riders in 250MX history to accomplish that feat, with Barnett achieving it in 1981 and 1982 on his way to the championship both years. With this win, Deegan now has nine career 250MX victories, tying him with Grant Langston and Dylan Ferrandis on the all-time 250MX win list. Yamaha now holds a total of 118 wins in the 250MX class, and Deegan is tied with Ferrandis for fourth on Yamaha’s all-time 250MX win list. Jeremy Martin and Broc Glover currently lead that list with 14 wins each.

JETT LAWRENCE CHECKED OFF ANOTHER WIN LAST WEEKEND IN HANGTOWN

Jett Lawrence continues to extend his points lead as he heads into Thunder Valley.

Jett Lawrence went 3-1 for his second win of the season, bringing his career total to 17 450MX victories—placing him 9th on the all-time 450MX win list. He’s now just one win behind Kent Howerton (18), and within striking distance of James Stewart (20), Ken Roczen (21), and Rick Johnson (22), giving him a strong chance to reach 5th on the all-time list before the season ends. Honda now leads all manufacturers with 167 total 450MX wins. Jett also brings his combined total of motocross wins across all classes to 44.

INJURED LIST:

JEREMY MARTIN – BANGED UP

JEREMY MARTIN_MONSTER_ENERGY_YAMAHA_STAR_2025Jeremy Martin took a hard crash down the hill at the Hangtown National and will be sitting out the next few rounds. He is looking to get his health back to one hundred percent as well as build his speed back up and will return for the Spring Creek National which is his family’s race track.

CHASE SEXTON – BANGED UP

We were hoping to see Chase Sexton return to racing this weekend after a tough crash at Fox Raceway took him out of the event. It has just been stated by the KTM team that Chase will sit out Hangtown to recover fully before heading back to racing. However, there is no clear indication of what the injury is.

Chase Sexton said: “I’m definitely banged up after last weekend’s crash but thankfully there’s nothing broken so that’s a positive. I’ve made the decision to sit out this weekend’s race and focus on getting back to 100%. I appreciate all the support from my team, fans, and everyone who’s reached out. Best of luck to my KTM teammates this weekend.”

MAX ANSTIE – LEG

Max Anstie actually attempted to ride at the Fox Raceway National but after press day he had made the decision his leg was not prepared for race conditions just yet. He has decided to sit out the first few rounds to make sure his leg was healed properly to be able to give his best effort for the rest of the season. It is not clear of his exact return to racing.

JUSTIN BARCIA – KNEE

Justin Barcia has been testing his knee, but it’s not ready yet.

Justin Barcia dropped out of the last couple rounds of the Supercross series with a knee injury, but showed up to ride practice at the Glen Helen Stopwatch National, but still isn’t ready for the AMA Nationals yet.

DYLAN FERRANDIS – STRESS FRACTURE

Dylan Ferrandis has a stress fracture that is keeping him out of action.

Dylan suffered a stress fracture to his leg and might sit out all of the AMA 450 Nationals, but if he heals, he might make a few of the late rounds to get points for the SMX Playoffs.

AUSTIN FORKNER – LACERATION

Austin has been taking it easy, while adapting to the Triumph TF250-X, but he lacerated his leg at Pala .

Austin Forkner crashed at Pala and cut his left leg. He was stitched up by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical crew.

NATE THRASHER– UNKNOWN/SORE

Nate Thrasher had a tough crash at Fox Raceway where he ended up getting run over. He was sent to the hospital by the Alpinestar Medical staff for further evaluation. It is unclear if he will be returning this weekend for Hangtown. He posted on Instagram saying he will do everything he can to be back this weekend but it is not for sure.

PIERCE BROWN – BACK

Pierce Brown had a tough crash while leading the race during the Tampa Supercross which resulted in a T5 break to his back.

“I felt great all night, leading my heat and main. Halfway through the main, I crashed in the whoops and unfortunately broke my T5 vertebrae. I had surgery to get it fixed so that I could get back to racing. I want to thank all my family, friends, fans, and the team for all of their support.”

TALON HAWKINS – FEMUR/RETIREMENT

Talon Hawkins had a scary crash at the San Diego Supercross when he attempted to seat bounce into one of the larger rhythm sections, sending him off the back of the bike and on the ground hard. As a result, he ended up breaking his femur. Talon has stated recently that he will be stepping away from racing and will start the next chapter of his life.

JALEK SWOLL – ACHILLES

Jalek Swoll - 2024 Salt Lake Supercross-1-2Jalek Swoll is still recovering from his torn Achilles and will be sitting out motocross.

Jalek Swoll sustained an Achilles tear while practicing before Anaheim 1. Because of this injury, Jalek has been out all year and his return is still up in the air. We would like to see him back at the races soon.

JETT REYNOLDS – FEMUR

Jett Reynolds had a practice crash while training during Supercross where he ended up breaking his femur. He will be out for the remainder of the season.

Mike Bonacci said: I regret to announce that Jett Reynolds had a fluke crash while training on Friday and suffered a broken leg. It will unfortunately take him out of racing for the balance of the Supercross season. He had surgery at 6 am this morning and will start his rehabilitation process next week. As you have seen, Jett was making great progress in the Supercross series and on the way to his best overall performance in his young career. He is obviously disappointed but will fight his way back to be even stronger for the outdoor series in May. Please wish him well.”

CAMERON MCADOO – KNEE

Cameron McAdoo aggravated his pre-season knee injury mid-way through the Supercross season.

Cameron McAdoo hurt his knee prior to the Supercross season starting. He decided to ride and was actually one of the top riders in the class each week, but realized that was in his best interest to get it fixed. He will be out for the remainder of the year.
