250 OVERALL QUALIFYING RESULTS // 2023 CHICAGO SMX PLAYOFF #2

Supermotocross hits the track at Chicagoland Speedway in Chicago, Illinois. These new layouts of a cross between Supercross and Motocross have made for some very interesting racing. In the 250 Class, Haiden Deegan was lightning fast in Moto One, dominating the rest of the field. But as the track developed into second motos, we saw Jo Shimoda shine in the almost unrideable conditions. Again, this week, we’re looking at a high-speed track with some intense supercross sections. It will be interesting to see how things develop from qualifying to final motos.

250 COMBINED QUALIFYING RESULTS

The final Unseeded practice made it through without the rain but as the Seeded riders hit the track, the rain started to fall. Down poor really started slowing up the times of the Seeded riders. RJ Hampshire and Seth Hammaker again topped the board, followed by Levi Kitchen and Hunter Lawrence. Though the visibility was probably poor in this qualifying, the track did not appear to deteriorate too quickly. Predictions are looking at another hour of rain, so we will see how the track changes by motos. The lap times from the first Seeded qualifying session did hold through the second-seeded qualifying.

250 SEEDED QUALIFYING RESULTS SESSION 1

A little bit of precipitation is expected here in Chicago this afternoon, along with the dark dirt, which makes it very complicated to see. As the track develops, shadowing and line choice will be critical. Jo Shimoda was the first to top the list, but Seth Hammacker and Haiden Deegan quickly put in times that topped the list around the 1:53 mark. By the midpoint of the qualifying session, the top ten riders were all within a second of each other this was until Rj Hampshire put down a quick lap with a low 1:52. Rj would go on to lead the group in the first Seeded Qualifying.

250 UNSEEDED QUALIFYING RESULTS SESSION 1

Quick to start the unseeded qualifying was Cullin Park as he put the first quick lap time down. Times would rapidly drop from here as riders like Coty Schock, Josh Varize, and Derek Kelley broke under two minutes.  The track is very fast in the morning, but will be interesting to see how things develop into second qualifying. Preston Kilroy would top the list in the first unseeded qualifying.
