GODSPEED! DAVE FEENEY (1962-2024)

GODSPEED! DAVE FEENEY (1962-2024)

We are heartbroken to report another terrible loss to the motocross community. After a 15-month battle with cancer, Dave Feeney passed away on Thursday, December 26th, at the age of 62, with his wife and family by his side.

Dave was originally diagnosed with prostate cancer in September of 2023, and after going through chemo, it looked like he had it beat. Dave was back to riding and was last on the track with his wife Carole and friends at Glen Helen just a few months ago in September. Sadly, the cancer came back, and this time, it spread to his bones.

When he’s not at the races, wrenching on factory Husqvarna’s, Dave and his wife Carole are at the local SoCal Old Timers, OTHG, and Saturday at the Glen races at Glen Helen. Carole is an avid rider and racer, and they both ride Husqvarna’s themselves.

Dave Feeney Zach Osborne Dave was Zach Osborne’s mechanic throughout his entire time with Rockstar Husqvarna from 2015 to 2021.

Dave grew up in New Castle, New South Wales, Australia, and he came to the U.S. in 1993 to chase the dream of being a Factory mechanic. Once he got to California, Dave worked for privateer Tony Amarido for the 1994 season; then, he went on to work with Phil Lawrence at the Great Western Bank Kawasaki team after that. He graduated from there to his first factory team with Pro Circuit Kawasaki and he worked multiple years there for Casey Johnson. When Casey went to Yamaha of Troy, Dave stuck with him. Later, he went to Suzuki and worked for Stephane Roncada, and then he went back to Pro Circuit Kawasaki and worked for Broc Tickle when Broc won the 250SX West Coast Championship in 2011.

Dave found a home with Rockstar Husqvarna as Zach Osborne’s mechanic, and he worked for Zach from the time he joined the team in 2015 until he retired in 2021. Then, Dave moved to the Rockstar Husqvarna Off-Road team, working with Dalton Shirey and Austin Walton, where he was a mechanic for Team USA’s ISDE program and won races at the West Coast off-road races.

Dave will be remembered for being one of the most friendly guys in the pits, and we’ll miss him greatly.
