Jean Sebastien Roy continued to dominate the field in the Pro 250 Class at the second round of the Canadian Nationals in Nanaimo, B.C. Right from the start in Saturday’s practice JSR continued to set lap times in the 1.50 mark on his awesome Honda Canada Blackfoot Thor FMF/PR2 CR250R setting the benchmark for the weekend. In the first moto JSR moved forward through the pack quickly from a 10th place start and passed front runners Decker and Lange. He never looked back.

The second moto start was much better for Roy only to have it red flagged as Team Faith’s Jimmy Gaddis had gone down in the first corner. On the restart things did not go as well as JSR came out of the first turn in a mid pack position. Applying pressure while in 9th he slid out in a corner and had to remount back in 12th. At the halfway point of the moto while heavy rain started to fall JSR moved into the lead with an awesome ride, one the crowd will never forget to finish 28 seconds ahead of second place Lange.

“Overall it was a great race,” said Roy. “I was a little tight in the second restart and made a few mistakes, however I really wanted to win and keep my streak going. I cannot say enough about the way my Honda CR250R is working. The motors from Jeff at PR2 with the combination of the FMF pipes and Michelin tires were working awesome. My mechanic Andrew MacLean and our suspension guru Joe Skidd have done a great job on the bike which makes it easier to win.”

Damon Huffman continually rode smoothly and consistently to finish 4-4 for the weekend on his CR250R. He was the only rider to double up on the top of the tricky rhythm section on the track, as his experience and skill was evident. Huffman rode aggressively in the second moto however was unable to catch the top three riders.

“In Mission I rode a little tight however this weekend I felt better,” said Damon. “The team is very good and we are making improvements on my bike every practice session and moto.” I know what it takes to be there and I am focused on being on the podium next weekend in Calgary.”

In the heavily contended 125 West Coast Series Ty Lacey had a strong qualifier on Saturday finishing a close 2nd behind Series leader Evan Laughridge. On Sunday Ty’s goal was to be consistent and garner points to assist him in his Championship quest. From a top ten start Ty quickly moved into 3rd place and was there to take advantage of Jimmy Nelson’s get off to cross the finish line in 2nd.

Moto three was not so kind to Ty as a heavy downpour of rain came just prior to the start. With a tough start of 27th Ty rode strong to move up to 8th position. The Series is proving to be an exciting one as 2nd through 5th has only a 2 point separation which will make for an competitive round three next weekend at Blackfoot Moto Park in Calgary.

Honda Canada Blackfoot Thor support rider Dean Wilson continued to impress aboard his CR85R as he cleaned up in both motos on Sunday. Dean is preparing to attend Loretta Lynn’s Amateur Finals in August aboard his new Honda PR2/FMF CR85 and has been working very hard on his technique and corner speed.

Again the weekend was marred by an injury to our friend and former team-mate Blair Morgan who suffered a compound break to his lower leg as well as a back injury. Our thoughts are with him as well as Chris Wheeler during their recovery.

Special thanks to the Nanaimo MX Club for their efforts in an extremely well organized event. As well thanks again to Dean McFadden from Lethbridge Honda for his support in our hospitality area all weekend.
