MOTOCROSS ACTION MID-WEEK REPORT
COLE DAVIES IS THE REAL DEAL
Cole Davies grabbed his first official 250SX win in Seattle at just seventeen years old.
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cole Davies scored a career-first 250SX victory in dominant fashion, taking the win by a healthy 7.5-second margin at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington.
It takes extreme mental toughness to be a winner and after qualifying eleventh, Davies came out swinging in the main.
With the characteristic rainy weather of the Pacific Northwest leading up to Round 11 of the SuperMotocross World Championship, there was a delayed start and an abbreviated schedule with only two qualifying sessions. Although Davies didn’t get the start to the day he was looking for and qualified 11th, he came out swinging once racing got underway. The rookie got a great start to his heat race, claimed the lead early, and kept cool under pressure to score his first win of the evening. In the main event, Davies got another great start and grabbed the holeshot. Although he was passed on that opening lap, he reclaimed the lead on Lap 2 and set the pace up front, building a comfortable gap to score a convincing victory. The young New Zealander continues to hold third in the 250SX West standings, 20 points from his teammate at the top and six from the runner-up spot.
Cole Davies said: “I’m stoked to get my first win here in Seattle. It’s a huge accomplishment to get a win in my rookie season and a lifelong dream of mine, but we’ll get back to work now. Let’s keep this going.”
250 WEST CHAMPIONSHIP IS GETTING CLOSE TO THE END
Haiden Deegan and Julien Beaumer exchanged some words as well as some helmet smacks after a dissagreement on the track.
Haiden Deegan has began to drift away from Julien Beaumer in the points standings, but it is not over quite yet. Beaumer had an amazing start to the season and grabbed his first career win early on. As for Haiden Deegan he started things off a bit slower but would regain momentum through the second half of the season.
Haiden Deegan had an early crash in the main in Seattle but was able to catch back up to third.
Deegan showed strength from the start in Seattle, topping both sessions of qualifying to earn fastest qualifier honors in the 250 class and then grabbing the holeshot in his heat race. The red plate holder was passed by his teammate shortly after and tried to reclaim the lead but unfortunately went down before the finish line. Deegan quickly went to work and charged his way back to third by the finish. In the main event, he didn’t get the start he was looking for but made his way to fifth on the opening lap and then unfortunately had a tip-over in the tricky conditions. Back in eighth on Lap 2, Deegan put in another charge through to fourth and passed his championship rival on the final lap to score his sixth podium of the season, expanding his championship lead to 14 points.
Haiden Deegan said: “Today was pretty solid, besides crashing in the main event. I qualified first in both sessions and then ended up falling in the heat race, which wasn’t great. In the main event, I just messed up my start and then crashed. So third on the day and gained some points, which is good, but we need to win. We’ve got some things to work on. We’ll get back to work.”
Julien Beaumer was fourth on the night in Seattle.
The 250SX West Class returned to action in Seattle following a three-week hiatus, with Julien Beaumer recommencing his hunt for this year’s championship. Equipped with his KTM 250 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, Beaumer collected the second-fastest qualifying time before finishing P2 in his Heat Race. Upon delivering a solid ride throughout the Main Event, Beaumer battled inside the podium placings for the entirety of the race before eventually landing a fourth-place result in Seattle to remain well in title contention.
Julien Beaumer said: “Fourth place in Seattle, just a bad line choice in the Main cost me a lot. I should have been blitzing the whoops, then I got stuck behind the lapped riders, too, and didn’t make good choices there. I became frustrated, which ultimately cost me a lot of time. Overall, it was a step in the right direction with my riding, as my shoulder is improving, and we’re on an upward trajectory. I’m ready to get back to work and come out swinging in Philly.”
450 CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE
Chase Sexton was frustrated with his second place finish in Seattle.
In the Main Event, Sexton entered the lead of the race after clawing his way from a sixth-place start as the difficulty of the Lumen Field conditions intensified. Following a spectacular performance at the front of the field, Sexton ultimately finished in P2 following a final lap showdown for victory. Chase is positioned second in the standings, just 11 points outside of the lead following Round 11.
Chase Sexton said: “Tonight was gnarly and I think the pace this year was even higher than last year, which is crazy. We were pushing the limit – I was getting that long rhythm, which helped me, and then Coop [Cooper Webb] was faster in the tight stuff. There was a lot of cat and mouse out there, but it was a balance of pushing the pace, while also keeping your balance, because you had to hit your marks and try not to make mistakes, which was almost impossible on that track.”
Back to back Seattle wins for Cooper Webb.
For the second year running, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb came out on top in a heavyweight battle to enjoy another victory at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington. The red-plate holder’s fourth win of the season also helped strengthen his Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450SX Championship lead, giving him an 11-point advantage with six rounds remaining.
Cooper Webb said: “Seattle was an amazing day. Qualifying went well. I ended up third and got second in the heat. It was a crazy main event. I led at the beginning, and then Kenny (Roczen) got by me. We were battling, and Chase (Sexton) got us both, so it was a three-way battle, and then Justin was in there. It was just crazy. It was mano a mano with Chase and me at the end, and I was able to get him late. It was gnarly conditions out there. I’m just stoked that I could rebound the way I did after last weekend.”

NEW RIDE FOR DEAN WILSON
Honda HRC Progressive announced today that Dean Wilson will campaign the factory CRF450RWE race machine for the last five rounds of the 2025 AMA Supercross season, beginning with the April 12 event in Philadelphia. The squad has fielded a 250-only effort in AMA Supercross since Hunter Lawrence withdrew for shoulder surgery following the February 8 Tampa round (Jett Lawrence had pulled out for knee surgery one week earlier). Hunter hopes to return to action in time for the AMA Pro Motocross series, which starts on May 24 in Pala, California. Since his surgery, Jett has been dedicated to his recovery, which is going extremely well, and he hopes to be racing as soon as possible.
A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Wilson is a veteran of elite-level U.S. racing, having earned the 2011 250 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Recent seasons have seen him contesting a variety of series, winning the 2023 Australian Supercross Championship in the SX1 division while racing for Yarrive Konsky’s Honda Racing Australia team.
Wearing Fly Dean maintains his same gear and boot sponsors.
Early this year, Wilson raced for the British St. Blazey Honda team in the UK Arenacross Tour, which he won. He had intended to race five rounds of the AMA Supercross series for the Konsky-owned, Martin Davalos-managed Quad Lock Honda team, but will instead race for the Lars Lindstrom-managed factory squad.
Dean Wilson said: “I’m just really excited and grateful for this opportunity, It certainly wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card! It came through unfortunate circumstances, with the Lawrence brothers getting injured. I was on the other side of the pond in the UK, and I shot Lars a text, saying I would be interested. I eventually got a call that it will happen for the last five. I’ve always wanted to ride this bike and be a part of this team, so I kind of feel like a little kid again, to be honest—just over the moon! I’m thankful that Yarrive and Martin were very understanding.”
Dean Wilson picks up a replacement ride for the Lawrence brothers.
Wilson began supercross testing with Honda HRC Progressive last week, three weeks ahead of his debut with the squad. In the meantime, Jo Shimoda and Chance Hymas continue to represent the team in the 250SX class, campaigning the CRF250RWE in the West and East Regions, respectively.
Dean Wilson has been a top-level Supercross rider for many years and though hasn’t raced Supercross this year he’s been racing overseas.
Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Advertising at American Honda said: “On behalf of American Honda, I’d like to welcome Dean to Honda HRC Progressive for the final part of AMA Supercross. Obviously, we’ve missed having the Lawrences racing out of our truck for much of this season, but we’re happy to see them progressing well and hope to have them back in action soon. In the meantime, it will be great to have Dean showcasing the CRF450RWE. I’d like to thank Yarrive and Martin at Quad Lock Honda for their flexibility in order to make this happen.”
MXA FANTASY LEAGUE – MOTOSPORT GIVEAWAY: THE WINNER OF THE SEATTLE SUPERCROSS SCORED 285 POINTS
Another great weekend of racing for the 2025 Seattle Supercross. Cooper Webb was on it from the start of the day in qualifying. It was easy to tell he was comfortable with the difficult conditions and it showed in the main event. Chase Sexton put in a valiant effort as he made a last-turn attempt to steal the win away. Cooper Webb extended his points lead to eleven as they headed back East. In the 250 class, many predicted it would be Haiden Deegan to grab the win but a crash early in the main opened the door to the rest of the field. Cole Davies was able to put himself out front and to not look back. Haiden Deegan would bounce back to finish third behind Garrett Marchbanks in second and Davies out front.

In Supercross it is actually very difficult to stay on two wheels. Justin Barcia demonstrated that in Seattle as he took a bit of a dirt sample.
