• ADAM CIANCIARULO ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT AT THE END OF THE 2024 SUPERCROSS SEASON
One of the most popular, outgoing and friendly racers on the AMA circuit, Adam is hanging up his boots on May 11, 2024
Adam Cianciarulo, announced today that he is retiring from professional racing. The 27-year-old Floridian has decided to conclude his professional racing career at the end of the 2024 Supercross season in May, signifying the end to a 20-year journey with Team Kawasaki, Team Green and the/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team.
During his amateur career, Cianciarulo became a decorated champion and earned the title of the winningest mini bike rider at the Loretta Lynn’s AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship with 11 championships.
Making his professional debut aboard his KX250, Cianciarulo took three wins and two runner-up finishes in his first five Supercross starts in 2014. He would go on to win the 2019 AMA 250 National Motocross Championship—winning the Monster Energy Cup in his 450 debut.
Adam was an incredible talent, who never got to show what he could have really have achieved because of injuries. Kawasaki and Pro Circuit always stuck by him through every injury-riddled season.
Adam said,“I was seven years old when I signed with Kawasaki, and from my amateur career with Team Green to turning pro and my time in the 250 class with Pro Circuit, to the last four years with factory Kawasaki at the highest level in our sport, here we are 20 years later. As I announce my retirement, I want to extend my deepest thanks to Kawasaki for their belief in me and their relentless commitment. It’s been an honor and a privilege to represent such an iconic brand, and to be a part of a team with the utmost integrity. I’ve made friends that will last a lifetime, and memories I will always cherish. My love for racing, and our sport in general, is stronger than ever, and I look forward to the future with the same excitement I had as a kid dreaming of the career I was so fortunate to have had.”

• IF YOU LIKE THE PHOTOS & VIDEOS IN MXA THANK TREVOR NELSON
Trevor Nelson is the hardest working photographer in the sport. He doesn’t just shoot video for MXA’s website and You Tube Channel, but he also has to shoot all the action photographs at the same time for the print magazine. Ron Lawson shot this photo of Trevor during the 24 Hours of Glen Helen. Below, we chose four photos at random from Trevor’s Instagram page for you to enjoy.
Great photos require a great understanding of the interplay of light and the subject. This is Ken Roczen waiting for something to happen. Trevor didn’t have to wait.
This is a perfect example of Trevor working with all the available light sources inside a stadium to capture Jason Anderson in an other worldly image.
Trevor knows his subject well. Here, Josh Mosiman plays around in an endless row of rolling whoops and gives Trevor a jolt of comedy to capture.
With FA18s you don’t get a second chance to capture the action. Trevor took what would have been a very nice photo and caught it at the perfect moment.
• GLEN HELEN OFFERS A $10,000 PRO PURSE FOR THE MAY 16 “STOPWATCH NATIONAL” WARM-UP RACE
Josh Mosiman talks to Bud Feldkamp, the owner of Glen Helen Raceway, about the upcoming “Stopwatch National” on Thursday, May 16th. Originally this was scheduled to be a one-lap timed challenge, but Glen Helen decided to turn it into a two-moto race format, with 30-minute plus 1 lap motos for the 250 and 450 pros combined. They will pay the top ten, with the winner getting $4000 (which is what a 250 East/West Supercross rider gets for finishing second in an AMA Supercross and more than a fourth place rider gets in a 450 Supercross).
Also coming up on April 20 is the 2024 Wiseco World Two-Stroke Championship. It pays big money to the Pasha 125 Pro class, Pasha Over-30 125 Pro class and Pasha Over-50 125 Pro class (Pasha 125 Pro bikes can run 150cc engines). Of course, the stand-alone Open Pro class will be paying purse money also.

• POSTPONED! 2024 WORLD TWO-STROKE MOVES TO APRIL 19-20
The Wiseco World Two-Stroke Championship was originally scheduled at Glen Helen Raceway for March 29-30, but due to a continuous string of West Coast rain storms, the race was rescheduled to April 19-20. Glen Helen only gets 5 inches of rain in drought years and 15 inches of rain on average, but this year it has been hit with rain storms virtually every week through January, February and March—resulting in 26 inches of rain falling in only three months. For more info about the World Two-Stroke Championship go to www.glenhelen.com.

• MXA TEAM TESTED: TWIN AIR ICE FLOW RADIATOR CAP
Twin Air’s Ice Flow radiator cap increases the boiling point of the water in your bike’s radiator by increasing the amount of pressure inside the radiator. The difference between a stock radiator cap and a high-pressure one is dramatic. A motorcycle’s radiator cap is similar to the safety valve found on a chef’s pressure cooker. Since the boiling point of water increases when the water is placed under pressure, a radiator cap has a coil spring situated between two rubber seals. The stiffness of the spring determines how much pressure the water is under. As the water heats up, it expands. This expansion puts pressure on the radiator cap’s spring. When the radiator’s internal pressure exceeds the spring rate of the radiator cap, the hot coolant escapes and overflows between the two rubber seals. But, until the spring’s tension is overcome, the water will not boil.Without any pressure on it, water will boil at 212 degrees Fahrenheit (at standard temperature and barometric pressure); however, a cooling system that is under 15 pounds of pressure will allow straight water to reach 250 degrees before it boils. For every pound of pressure exerted on the coolant, the static boiling point is raised by 3 degrees. (3) Measurement. There are many measurements of pressure. Most radiators use kilograms per centimeter squared (kg/cm2). American cars use pounds per square inch (psi). Scientists use kilopascals (kPa) and Europeans use barometric pressure (bar).
Most Japanese bikes come with 1.1 kg/mm2 radiator caps, while KTMs and Huskys come with 1.8 kg/mm2 caps. A 1.1 kg/mm2 cap can handle 14.22 psi before the coolant pushes the valve open and steam comes out the overflow. By increasing the radiator cap to 1.8 kg/mm2, the radiator can handle 25.6 psi, while a 2.0 kg/mm2 cap ups the ante to 28.45 pounds. The higher the pressure, the longer the water in your radiator will resist boiling. Twin Air offers 1.8 radiator caps to replace the stock 1.1 caps on Hondas, Yamahas, Kawasakis and Suzukis. For KTMs and Husqvarnas, which come stock with 1.8 caps, they have a 2.0 cap, which is 176 kPa, 1.96 bar and 28.45 psi.
DIGITS: $24.95— www.twinair.com or your local dealer.
MXA RATING: Water cools the delicate internals of your expensive engine. If the water boils, you will have an expensive aluminum doorstop on your hands. Luckily, there are simple spring-loaded devices that can stop your bike from puking.
