“SATURDAY AT THE GLEN:” BACK ON IN ACTION ON ALL FRONTS

“SATURDAY AT THE GLEN” MOTOCROSS RACE REPORT

The MXA guys are everywhere—including laying on the track, blocking their teammates. Here, Josh Fout  (946) finished this deep rut on his behind, while Brian Mederios isn’t tall enough to get either foot on the ground.

Glen Helen’s “Saturday at the Glen” races were cancelled last Saturday because of a freak thunderstorm on Friday evening, which only lasted for 30 minutes, but managed to dump an inch of rain in that short amount of time. When the same weathermen, who didn’t predict the deluge last week, forecast rain for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it was hard for the racers to take them seriously. Even the Glen Helen track crew  prepped the track as though they hadn’t heard about the possibility of rain. Good move by the track crew because Saturday was cool, but sunny and the race track, which included the big Mt. Saint Helen uphill and downhill, was perfect.

Not only was the track crew committed to Saturday’s race, but 264 riders showed up on Saturday to race. Here is a quick view of who was who at Glen Helen through the camera lenses of Debbi Tamietti and Jon Ortner.

Hawaiian Brian Medeiros (934) went 2-3 for second overall in the 450 Pros on a Yamaha YZ450F.

Brian Medeiros’ Hawaiian buddy Newai Glushenko from Waianae raced an RM Army Edition RM-Z250 to a 7-7 finish in the 250 Novice class

MXA’s Josh Mosiman (946) and Josh Fout switched bikes, with Mosiman on  Fout’s regular Kawasaki KX450. Unfortunately, Mosiman had a mechanical problems and pulled out of moto one of the 450 Pro class, while racing with Enzo Temmerman. Once the  KX450 was fixed, Josh came back to finish second in moto two.

Josh Fout (82) gave his regular KX450 to Josh Mosiman, because he was assigned to race an MXA project KX450 with Kayaba works forks, Xtrig split triple clamps, Race Cups offset headset bearings, XPR-tuned Vortex ECU engine, Pro Circuit pipe and lots of exotica. Josh Fout won the Over-30 Experts.

J.P. Alvarez (192) DNF’ed the second moto after getting a fourth in the first moto of the 250 Pro class. His brother Tristan took the 250 Pro win with a 1-1.

Cody Brownfield (46) borrowed MXA’s 2025 Honda CRF250 and went 3-3 in the 250 Pro race.

Amari Arnold (42) not only won the 250 Intermediate class, but came back later in the program to win the Open Intermediate class.

Shawn Bushnell (25) won the Over-40 Experts and was second in the Open Experts behind Dakota Gardner.

The temperature in the morning were in the high 40s, but since Randy Skinner (left) was out of action with a concussion and Jody Weisel (left) was out with Vertigo, neither one was disturbed by the weather. Only Cooper the dog seemed upset.

Every week Val Tamietti (31) and Bob Rutten (83) battled for dominance in the Over-65 Expert class.

Who won? Val Tamietti was a multi-time CMC number one rider at Saddleback. He got to the checkers first.

Dirt Bike’s Ron Lawson was fourth in the Over-65 Experts.

Scalvini importer Pete Vetrano (37) swept both motos of the Over-65 Intermediates on his GasGas.

A well color-coordinated Marc Crosby (95) went 3-3 in the Over-65 Intermediates.

Jon Ortner (N1R) clinched his third title in the National Grand Prix Championship (NGPC) early this month and is now back in moto-mode. Jon went 4-4 for 4th in the Over-60 Expert class and 8-8 in the Over-50 Experts.

Dan Alamangos (41) is from Australia. How do we know? Because who else in Southern California would be wearing “Go The Rat” gear?

Jacob Tilley (5) took the 125 Novice victory with a 2-1 in front of Ronnie Florez’s 3-2 and Bode Bushnell’s 5-3.

The 50cc Pee-Wees fight for every position on the track. Here, Reed Jordon (P45) pushes his front end in an effort to keep Caylee Costa (406) from getting by him on the inside.

Seth Hermann (305) went 5-4 for 4th overall in the 85 class.

Dani George (162) went 2-2 to finish on the second step on the podium in the Women’s class—behind Taylor Herald and ahead of Gabriella Fout.
