“SATURDAY AT THE GLEN RACE REPORT:” ALL-OUT WAR IN THE 450 PRO CLASSES
Hawaiian Brian Medeiros (34) took the overall wins in the 450 Pro class and the Open Expert classes with identical 2-1 scores.
The riders poured into Glen Helen Raceway Raceway because the rain had stopped on Thursday, the main road in was opened up for the first time in weeks (because when it rains the rushing water coming down from the mountains floods the road). But, Saturday promised warmer temps and little less wind (although that promise came to an end later in the day). The track was a thing of beauty. It featured the big Shoei hill, followed by the Mt. Saint Helen downhill and the twists and turns of the Glen Helen bowl, the hip jump, the Velodrome and the deep sand on the straight that leads to the tree turn. The track crew had worked on it on Friday to undo the damage done by the Thursday’s rain storm and were out in force on Saturday morning with the Cat and the three-way (Part ripper and part lawn mower reel—although it doesn’t cut grass it just blends the ruts left by the Cat and the Grader into an incredible mixture of traction making loam.
Brian Medeiros (934) and Sean Lipanovich (505) are both World Vet Champions, but on Saturday Brian had the track dialed.
The big draw of the day was the 450Pro class ,which featured current World Vet Champion Brian Medeiors, 2022 World Vet Champion Sean LIpanovich and the son of 28-time World Vet Champion Doug Dubach—Carter Dubach. Plus, Gavin Sorenson and Cody Brownfield. Not only would they battle in the 450 Pro class, but also race the Open Expert class.
Carter Dubach (15) won the first moto of the Open Expert class with Brian Medeiros (934) close behind. By day’s end Medeiros would win the Open Experts with a 2-1.
Brian Medeiros had driven in from Texas and borrowed MXA’s 2026 GasGas MC450, while Lipanovich knows every inch of Glen Helen like the back of his hand (because he test there every week with the KTM R&D department).. As for Carter Dubach, most of his time is now spent in the air working on getting enough flight time to become an airline pilot.
Jet Weston (22) has found himself in a high pressure situation as Sean Lipanovich (505) and Brian Medeiros (34) close in to lap him in Glen Helen’s sand section.
This week Jon Ortner (33) won the Over-60 Expert class on a 2026 Yamaha YZ450f, last week he won on a 2026 KTM 450SXF.
Ricky Richards (45) took the victory in the Over-40 Intermediate class.
